Let's talk machetes
Does /k/ approve?
I have a gerber gator jr, harbor freight machete, & a 10" old timer bowie knife I picked up for $10. I'm not too happy with them any one in particular. I want something beefier that I can use to chop rather then slice.
I saw the Camillus Carnivore . Seems pretty interesting. Maybe I should just get a hatchet instead

No offense, that looks retarded.

i prefer actual milsurp
>>31534501

Found the city slicker
Machetes work for outdoors 99.9% of the time for outdoor stuff. And if you run out of ammo, at least you're still dangerous to some extent.
But, even so, Not everyone can own a gun due to where they live or multiple reasons. So then you're stuck with having to use a tool as a weapon.
Machetes are great. The flips managed to kill some American GIs armed with rifles, revolvers, and 1911 with them. 21 foot rule my man.
My first machete. Got this close to 20 yrs ago

Got you senpai.
French coupe coupe anamite mle 1898 and 1916.
Nice triangular blade and good weight, the grip isn't amazing but nothing bad. It has a way of ruining its leather sheath, though.

Close up of brand

Sounds like a moron, get a moron.
>>31531780
Love this shape, not crazy about the orange. I found a cheapo in walmart yesterday the same shape. I may pick it up.
>>31534652
Get a condor parang. Much better quality. They make some damn good machetes
Used some $7 Walmart machete before to break down long branches, they seemed to work but handle vibration is pretty bad.
Bought some cold steel novelty machetes but never got to use them.
Are the cold steel ones good?
>>31534724
Don't like the shape.
>>31534769
They're a little soft.... 1055 steel isn't the best but the edge from the factory is way better now that it's sharpened in America. They bend but you can bend them back. I've thrown my gladius a few times that's how i found out.
>>31531780
i need one cut tall trees real good yeah
you know where i can get machete that is good 4 chop?
>>31534910
>>31534769
I've got one of pic related. I've never had any problems with it on camping trips for branches, batoning, etc. It works great.
I think it's a great value for general use although heavy abuse has been shown to break the handle.
Would recommend as a throw-in-the-trunk, general use machete.
>>31535231
Aaaaand and forgot pic lol
>>31534643
The irony.
>>31531810

Old milsurp Colombian machete
Gerber /fiskars Finland made brush tool
Condor dadao with athletic tape wrapped handle.
>>31536097
>it's autistic
Well, It's Finnish...
>>31531814
Get a condor. They make some beefier machetes and they're damn tough.
Literal nigger weapon
>>31534836
What steels are better?
>>31534636
I've had my dads one that is exactly like that. It has to be close to 30 years old.
>>31538452
1075 from condor is done right. Not sure what some of the other South American brands use because they don't really advertise but they all use some form of carbon steel and its better than most. Usually fairly tough and holds a decent edge. The 1055 is more malleable thought and more likely to roll if you hit a rock but that roll will most likely become a chip when you start to sharpen it.
I really really like this thing, def the best semi machete I've ever used.

Are kukris a savage meme blade or legitimately useful designs?
>>31534558
>21 foot rule
This shit is pure autism and only sort of applies if you have a holstered pistol at your hip and the assailant is already ready to go. It absolutely does not apply if you have a gun with a chambered round in your hands.
>>31539194
Links?
>>31539611
A kukri is the real deal as the design allows the blade to slice somewhat while chopping downward. This gives a deeper cut for the same force than a straight blade does.
>>31539638
Someone's never seen the original magnificent 7.
>>31541140
Links to what ?
Does baby need to be spoon fed. Google condor machetes. Tramotina machetes. South American machetes. It's not fucking hard.
Can somone here redpill me on Kuhkris ?
>>31543602
damn good bush knives made from shitty spring steel.
never pay more than sixty dollars for one, and don't even consider one that isn't at least 1/4 inch thick in the spine (and even that's thin).
>>31542420
You can use the "too elitist to be useful" excuse when you properly enumerate yourself.
