What does /k/ think about this gun? I have a opportunity to buy one for $510US. Is it worth it?

idk. what's a dpms?
$500~ for an AR seems bretty good.
It's a basic bitch AR-15. What more do you want and what do you want us to tell you?

>What does /k/ think about this gun?
You want to know what I think what /k/ as a whole thinks?
/k/ in general hates ready made "brand name" ARs and would rather see other /k/ommandos build their own.
I traded for a used one about 1.5 years ago. Put thousands of rounds through it since. It has not had one hiccup. Great rifle and I would get it again.

DPMS (Defense Procurement Manufacturing Services)
AKA Panther Arms

Is it possible to build one for less than $510 USD?
>>31530328
For that price you get what you pay for.
>>31530349
Would it be better to pay a little more for a S&W AR-15 or some other manufacturer? I guess the question is "In the field of AR-15s , how does DPMS stack up and is $510 USD a good price?"
>>31531564
sure, at the absolute lowest with new parts you could do MAYBE just over $400 and sub $500 is completely doable, but for a prebuilt AR $510 is a good price because you can't go much lower than that
It's an ar15. It goes bang. It's fine.
>>31530328
Yes, $510 for a DPMS AR is a decent deal
I'd buy it for that much. Heck of a deal.
>>31530328
I CAN'T FUCKING FIND $600 ARS
WHY DO PEOPLE FIND $500 ARS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I have one. It's fantastic. No failures in any way whatsoever. Mil spec bolt carrier group (C158 steel), mil spec receivers (7075 T6 aluminum). 1:9 twist barrel makes it damn accurate. It has a dimpled gas block that's practically impossible to shake loose. Pretty good trigger, I heard it's comparable to mil spec m4 triggers in weight, travel, etc. Only bad thing about it is the furniture. Which is why I eventually replaced all of it with magpul stuff. Pic related is the model I bought.

The are low tier milspec AR's. but they are milspec, meaning they have to live up to certain low standards of tolerance, parts compatibility, and accuracy,
Fun fact though, DPMS were the first manufacturer to bring the AR platform to the consumer market. The basically set the standard for consumer grade AR's. they are a solid peice of hardware.
>>31532235
i bought the same. care to share a pic of your new furniture?
>>31532263
Here ya go. Still need a new grip, but it works fine at the moment. Please ignore the shitty sight.
>>31531564
Yes and you can get some gucci stuff for it l,like free floated barrels, crazy rails, etc
>>31532201
Where are you anon?
>>31530328
It's a good entry level ar. For the price it's one of the better basic ar. Bought the tac 2 model when I traded in a bolt gun, and it was on sale for around 800. It's a good rifle, it will serve you well and it'll run well. Had an issue or two when I first used it, nothing wrong after that first magazine.
Tl;dr, go for it. It's a good gun.
If you can afford it, I'm recommending people buy a complete upper, preferably from BCM, for about $750, and a complete lower for around $300. That to me seems the best way to get into what I'd consider a respectable AR-15. These lower cost ones are okay, but if you think you'll have buyer's remorse at all due to the comparatively lower build quality, just save up to around $1100 and thank me later.
>>31532201
build one you faggot.
160 for completed lower
200 for completed upper
90 for bcg
20 for charging handle
