Instead of having my soldiers waste time on random tasks, put them to work building disgused fortifications and trench systems, tunnel systems, and use a good portion of funds from cost saving measures on projects to keep morale as high as possible like sports, movies, music, hobby activities, whatever.

Primary service rifle is a big question. I might say the AKM, or the Galil. Both are chambered in common rounds and are decent enough weapons, although Sig 550 would also be a reasonable choice, given it's extended range in spite of using an intermediate cartridge. Designated marksmen might carry a G3 or M14. For snipers, perhaps SVDs or Rem 700s. A good standard issue sidearm, maybe Browning HP or a Sig P220 in 10mm auto. Light machine guns, I might say Russian penis kitty.
