Funny little thing.
You put in shell #12, and it says BZZZZT like a taser, with similar effects.
You put in shell # 3, and it says BHOOOM! like a big plasma cannon.
you put in shell #4, and it says ...whatever noise is created when it tears open negative rift in space and time, creating essentially a miniature black hole. (spoilers: this royally fucks up everything near it, so I wouldn't suggest using it at close proximity targets)
Shells are hard to come by and can be abit expensive, though. It IS an antique weapon and not many were made.

I had an amazing idea for a bolter.
I saw the micro Draco pistol and thought "gee, what if you did that to a saiga-12?"
Ok WHAT THE SHIT?!
a bowcaster has an effective range of 30 FUCKING METERS?!
It is "more powerful and more accurate than normal blasters" ...but has an effective range of 30 meters? Who the fuck would use something like this? On 30 meters, what are you going to miss? I have heard of "stormtrooper accuracy" but by force get your shit together!
It even is heavier and have greater recoil than ordinary blasters. And I quote:
"The E-11 blaster rifle has a maximum range of three hundred meters and an optimum range of one hundred meters"
What kind of shit is this on the battlefield? Even if you think that "most battles should be in heavily urban areas or on close quarters of a spase ship/installation" then what about backwater planets? hard vacuum? Rooftops?
Even todays weapons have longer effective range than this shit!

Destiny 2 should be an improvement, they've even stated it will be on PC. The problem was combining an in-house engine that took several hours to make any map change with suddenly throwing out all of the mission and story work and jigsawing it all into a "choose your own order" new story mode in just a year. The Dreadnaught was originally going to be the final zone in the original game where you rescue Rasputin's Exo avatar from the Hive.
But let's at least admit it's a great shooter and pretty good looking for a console title. And take it as good news that they used RoI to give themselves another year to make D2 a lot better.
You faggots have inspired me to kick it into gear with the "fix my old shit" schtick.

There's bits and pieces of the original story in the game as it is at initial release. The Stranger was originally one of Rasputin's agents, the Queen's Brother was her spymaster, The Crow who led her Crows. There were cutscenes bookending each mission. The story was actually coherent and had an ending. And so on.

Hard to argue with a plasma-actuated Gatling gun that weighs 90 pounds and fires a 15mm tungsten slug at 5,000 feet/second.
>>31539793
Yeah, I mean i'm not sure what sort of advantages this kinda sight would have over irons or a red dot.
Personally i'm more annoyed by the grip safety though.
>>31539859
From a practical standpoint or the design?
I'm not a fan of them in real life, but the design of the grip safety on the VSA L512 pistol is also really bad. Looks like it would pinch every time you used it.

Isn't wood a poor conductor of energy? That's why it is used in cooking utensils or handles.
It makes for great foregrips for the same reason.
Until it ignites., that is.
>>31539914
Well both, really. I mean, it just looks like where the real sight would be is where the laser emits from, and travels at an upward angle until it hits the piece on the front end of the gun where the front sight should be.
It seems more expensive and probably not as dependable as iron sights (iron sights dont have to worry about batteries like a laser sight does), and i'm not sure how it would fair up against the quick target aqiusition that an optic provides.

Actually he's probably right, look at the log/pole/whatever, there's a vertical line next to it that you can see in the zoomed-in frames. Actually the shade of the hanged chick and the pole are different than everyone else too.
Another thing I noticed is by the way her hair is positioned it looks like somebody rotated her head and cropped out the real one.
Oh and why is nobody is peeking around her or the pole? Actually nobody is postured in any way that indicates she's actually there.
I'm not saying it's 100% fake but it just seems odd that nobody would be posing with her after hanging her like in other photos like this. At least somebody should be acknowledging there's this dead chick and a big log in the way, there's one guy completely obscured but still facing the camera.

Victorian 10mm swing-out cylinder revolver anyone?

Wookieland is made entirely of trees, angry wildlife and more trees.
The reason Bowcasters have no range and hit hard is because you were lucky to see more than 50 meters.
So they made a gun that smashes through the foliage
>>31519594
i just realised
those rounds on the weapon are no where near fiddycal size

I have an unnatural bigotry towards the MX guns. I refuse to use them. MXM kinda loks nice though I could handle it.

>>31542273
Damn, senpai, keep going. This shit is cash. Although in England with their revolver development you would most likely get a top break webley style or a fixed cyllinder side loader. Aside of that? Muh dick.
I'm a sucker for fictional stuff that doesn't look fresh out of the factory gizmo with a trigger in the magwell.
>>31542460
Outside of the prideaux device derived speed-loader, it's like an unholy combination of American & Kraut designs (Mauser Zigzag/reichsrevolver elements, ect).
Oh, right, the direct successor to what would likely to being a ludicrously expensive to produce during the height of a World War "machine carbine" from earlier is it's Gas-Delayed Blowback (yes, like the Volkssturmgewehr 1-5 Based Ian faps to) bullpup with vaguely AR-100/AR-16 derived sights. This would be for paratroopers or whatever in the timeline it would be developed in.
(and yeah, that magazine release is pretty garbo)

ODST and allot of the regular marines had a HUD to help with aiming.
yeah it's space marines and all so that jimmy from the outer colonies could still use it without a helmet.
kinda explains why they had a issue with rebels everything is pretty much made so a dude without the fancy shit could use it.

my problem with the original story (or so we've been told) was that the traveler was another HURR DURR ANCIENT EVIL ALIEN THAT WANTS TO KILL US
that's what i like about bungie's version of the forerunners, they weren't dicks trying to kill us.
then 343 had to go and cliche it up

>my problem with the original story (or so we've been told) was that the traveler was another HURR DURR ANCIENT EVIL ALIEN THAT WANTS TO KILL US
That's just fan theory. Official story is that the Hive loathes it because it shows up at "lesser" races' doors to give them help and advance themselves instead of the natural evolutionary order of "be the most badass motherfuckers around or you deserve death." And the Vex show up where the Hive do. And the Fallen are post-collapse scavengers. And the Cabal are basically Crusaders who are in exile until they claim victory.
>>31543853
whatever the case is, i hope with D2 they don't go with that fan theory

Man the KZ2 version looks so much better than the KZ3 version.
The design team on KZ2 really did a fantastic job with the stamped metal and simple looks of the Helghan weaponry. The guns look like what you would expect to see turned out of the factories on a hellish death world to arm a massive military.
>>31539913
Then you have the KZ3 version, which is neat and all, but just looks so "sci-fi". Lot of extra crap and material where there doesn't need to be any, and so forth, especially considering that these are supposedly being turned out by a Helghan in even worse straits than the one that was making the KZ2 weapons.
>>31528636
came for this
>>31545116
Eh, I got a very utilitarian vibe from the KZ3, the rear of the gun is kraut space magic for the slide action, everywhere else is bare bones.

Surprised no one posted this yet. What are you, criminals?
>>31530526
IIRC in the books they even say that near misses from plasma guns give you third degree burns.
>>31538413
It's partially structural. If your enclosing bubble is load-bearing you don't need as much bracing for the gun, giving your crew more space to work within. Tanks are similarly designed so the turret structure supports the embrasure and distributes the load, whereas SPG's and field guns tend to have a bulkier mounting.

>>31545116
by KZ3, do you mean KZSF? My thought was that they have so many fewer people that they figured they would try to make up the difference with quality of gear and training, hence the different look. Also the fact that shadow fall is 30 years later.

>TFW no top loading 8 gauge scattergat
>>31535936
Its pretty good desu sempai. But you sound like the sort of faggot that would shit all over it and consider it a disgrace because its not as good as the original DX. Also the story is a bit weaker but more detailed. It sound weird saying it like that, but it means there are less twists and turns but we pay more attention to smaller stuff. Also the ending is kind of a let down, but int the "Wait thats all?" way, not in the "wow fuck this story what a shit ending" way.
>>31541274

I still can't figure out how a top loading shotgun works, does one exist in real life that I can look at blue prints of or was Bungie just crazy and came up with a wild, fictional, idea for a neat looking shotgun?
This, the carbine rifle that fire depleted uranium rounds, the rail gun ect. Basically most of the weapons from the first red faction.
>>31550792
Looks like thee ruskies made a go of a shotgun with the magazine tube on top. I cant tell where the shells are loaded in from however.
>>31551173
I remember that thing from Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. It fucking PUMPS-FORWARD & has a gate or some-such on the top.
