Tell me about some good options for .45 ACP, /k/. I only have any substantial knowledge about 9mm handguns and shotguns, so this is new territory for me.
My friend has a 1911 he let me shoot and I really liked it, looking to pick one up. Not wanting a 1911 at the moment since I have one only a few minutes drive away, I want a new gun to shoot, and could maybe even make a good home defence gun.
I've been looking at an FNX 45 how are they?

Look to Detonics in the near future. They are hopefully releasing new lines of handguns soon.
Detonics STX

Looks kinda small and... lumpy?
>>31515021
I like my usp alot, but some people find the ergos and the size off putting ,however it handles the.45 very well.
As far as the FN I have never personally held or fired one but they seem to be extremely popular as red dot/silencer/light/laser hosts ,plus they have a large count mag.make of that what you will.

Hey stop frame shaming, you shotlord! #beautifulwithanyframe
PPQ 45
I'm waiting for a 'Navy' version like pic related myself. Grampa seems to really like it.

I have a USP in .45, and it's God-tier. It's so much more natural feeling compared to other pistols I've held.

I personally love the fnx, I use the tactical version but I believe there isn't too big of a difference in the operation of the gun.
To me it feels more like a 9mm than a .45 and the recoil and blowback is very consistent and almost sproingy but in a good way. Very easy to stay on target
>>31515021
Get the fnx it's a great double stack. 45.
If you would like something comparable for cheaper. I would suggest the xdm 45. I have both and they're about the same except the fnx has 2 more bullets and cost $300 more.

XD in .45 has one of the highest capacities stock. 13+1 of .45 ACP, IIRC Glock is the only one that can hold more with one of those silly huge aftermarket mags. Bonus of XD is that it has a grip angle similar to a 1911, so it shoots similarly.

What do they look like with a good loadout? Can I get a nice threaded barrel on one? With thread protector included of course.
>>31516976
It does grip like the 1911 it's really comfy in the hand. That's why I bought it over the ppq and Smith&Wesson 's .45, that and the capacity. Also the fiber optic sight in the front

It's pretty nice, though I have the standard XD, specifically the tactical with 5" barrel. I was able to try a XDm but I liked the slightly heavier and longer barreled XD Tactical.

Rly made me think.
Does Ruger make a good .45 pistol? I like their New American Pistol I have in 9mm.

Still great quality, so git with your memes.

>tfw theres no good .45 ACP revolvers
the only choices are basically custom, and at that price id rather just get a match grade .357 or .44 magnum
>>31517000
a lot of them look like this, honestly if you are gonna buy the FN 45 there is no reason to not go with the tactical.
1911s are really nice and fun to shoot. 45 ACP honestly isn't as useful as it was a century ago, so I'd go with what's fun to shoot over practicality. I've also shot an FNX 45 and it was very controllable like a 9mm, and was definitely high capacity. The USP is great in my opinion, but I've heard people who dislike it.

just buy the a walther ppq 45 M2 its will be historically worth somthing one day since its the first walther in 45 ever. and is a double stack 45 with the weight and ergos of a 9mm holds 12+1 and has the best trigger & hand grip walthers ever made. mags can be had as little as 31 each.

When did we go from cylindrical suppressors to those tombstone shaped ones?
Is there anything I can put on a FNX to get the Mk23 look? Like a more modernized Mk23 with more rounds in a magazine and made by FNH instead.
>>31518590
honestly silencerco is one the best places you could go to to buy your suppressor. Just 30 mins on the phone with them can save you alot of trouble.

Is it bad that I think Walther pistols look like shit?
When the election panic hits and were all looking for ammo again (had 8 years and 5-9 panics to learn from yet we didn't)
Whats best to have in stock? A few boxes of HD ammo and bulk fmjs ?
>>31518876
Yes. Also consider 80% lowers for 1911 and AR-15, along with the finishings, just in case.

Why does it have a beaver tail if it doesn't have a hammer?
>>31520215
DAO internal hammer maybe? Or just to prevent retards from sliding their thumb?

Love my Sig P220. Single stack, 8 round mag, very accurate, and I've never had a single malfunction, ever. Over 3000 rounds fired. Purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned, which is a police trade in that got a full overhaul in Exeter. Cost me $500 in '08. CPO Sigs are still one of the best deals out there.
Pics not mine, just similar.
>>31520215
Because it comes from 1911 makers for 1911 shooters. The a good beavertail does help with recoil control, but that's a bit much.

>wanting TACTICAL milled right in the slide, may as well say GRIP ZONE
this killed it for me. call it autism all you like but I care about the aesthetics of my guns. Thankfully 1911's deliver and it's the only handgun I need. Props to Glocks for not butchering their slides with stupid markings as well.
