so you're going to illuminate your entire face while also not having anything remotely close to a cheek weld
>>
>>31509108
Well, think about it like this.
You don't need to maintain a cheekweld to have shots be consistent if the mount doesn't move at all.
It could be even more accurate.

>Illuminate your whole face
Wear a thick black/camo view over your set up so that light doesn't come through.

Not really for tacticool use. More for night hunting.
>>
>>31509154
do they make that in camo?
>>
>>31509137

Cheekweld also allows you to, you know, hold the rifle while you're pulling the trigger.

Go ahead, try to shoot a rifle while holds it at arm's length.

>>
>>31509281
There's a company that makes similar ones out of a different fabric, I'm sure they could make a camo line

>>31509221
Well you could mount the scope all the way forward and then put the screen somewhere you could hold the gun normally and still see the screen.

That or you could mount the gun in a robotically controlled fixture. You could even mount the gun on the roof of your vehicle and run the TV screen inside the cabin. That would be sick.

You forgot the peanuts, grape leaves, baked beans, and pineapple.
You generally get a loaf of bread or 2 with the box.
>>
>>31510006
Thats literally $2 of extras and doesnt change anything lol
>>
>>31509221
you do know you can still shoulder the rifle right? That's enough to be steady, the only thing you don't have is a cheekweld, which is only important when you need a consistent sight picture.

If you point a flashlight at a black wall it doesn't disappear it is just a now illuminated black wall

>>31508783
Just buy that $200 one that was on InRange.

Seriously, your shitty jury rigged one will be more trouble than it's worth, and probably cost you enough in time, parts and frustration that you might as well pay the extra and get one that actually works.

It's gen 1+ so it's probably not export restricted if you live outside of the US, and unless you're Belgian, German or Hungarian it should be legal to own (and if you are, your adhoc one would be illegal as well).

>DIY night vision
>no one talking about building using surplus tubes, just cell phone shit that's not even close to actual night vision equipment
Not sure why I expected otherwise.
>>
>>31511222
>You faggots! You're hacking new electronics instead of refurbishing older equipment!!!
>That's not do it yourself!!!
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>31511250
No, I'm saying it's stupid because your cell phone doesn't come close to surplus tubes for performance (don't know if things have changed, but you were able to get 3 stage gen 1 tubes that achieved similar increases in visibility to gen 2 or gen 3 tubes at the cost of being xboxhueg for under $100 a couple years back). The only way to get one of these cell phone "night vision devices" to actually work well at night is with a separate infrared illuminator, which surplus tubes don't need. This is really just a new twist on the cheap homemade night vision equipment made by hooking a small B&W camera to a view finder off an old camcorder and adding an infrared Illuminator.

>>31511402
What do I search to find out about these surplus tubes?
>>
>>31511402
Technically its a night vision "nanny cam" attached to the scope. The cellphone acts as just a screen.
Which leaves you still correct.

Still needs illumination for good picture.
Hacking tubes is the future. Wait till some one figures out how to USB-OTG a fistful of tubes then this gets legit.
>>
>>31512173
People were using P8079 tubes last time I really researched it, but it seems those have become slightly more expensive ($150-$200 range). I haven't kept up with what's on the market.
>>
>>31508783
To hell with "night vision". I want an augmented reality ballistic calculator with geometry based range finding. An object recognizing/motion activated alarm so you can look away for a sec, and real time gps map/text chat updates from scouts via packet radio hooked into the audio jack leaving the usb for the scope. All packed in one app.
