Not even remotely. This is like a 30-year-old design. China intended to replace all their AK's with this rifle back in the early 2000's, which didn't happen.

Once upon a time somebody somewhere in China didn't give a fuck about their job (communism, am I right?) and patreon'ed an autist kid on deviantart 5 bucks to draw a famas, got the pic,transaction failed, tracked the kids address,contracted him to be killed, destroy computer, then throw that pic at his engineers and told them to build and give it to the government to test.

Internally, it's basically QBZ-03 with slight aesthetic and ergonomic adjustments which resulted in an tacticool AR baby. Fun fact: Chinese have a domestic AR product CQ 5.56, even an unsurprisingly shameless M4A1 copy - the CQ 5.56 Type A carbine.
