>6.5 grendel
>in an AK pattern
>>
>>31507546
They're not fully clean unless they're Zast-fully clean.
>>
crap shit snowflake round
>>
>>31507546
what makes 6.5mm a viable round?

Is it really some happy medium between 7.62mm and 5.56mm?
>>
>>31507743
They're using in precision rifles. I'm guessing they want flat trajectory, while still being standard AK size and utility if the kebab ends up closer than they planned.
>>
>>31507799
so does it "hit as hard" as 7.62 while being as relatively accurate as 5.56?
>>
>>31507849
6.5 is to 5.56 and 7.62 as .32 Federal is to .38 special and .357 mag.
>>
>>31507849
Which 7.62? If you mean x39, then yes. It holds its energy better, and if they use SMK/M67/7N10 style projectiles, they have a terminally impressive, flat shooting round without the need to use a "stretched" AK, which have known issues with beating themselves to pieces utilizing heavier ammo, such as those preferred by snipers.

Arent US and Iranian militaries looking into 6.5mm?
>>
>>31507891
I apologize for my ignorance Anon, but I am not familiar with .32 Federal, .38 special or .357 magnum
>>31507908
Well this 6.5 sounds pretty awesome then!

How is it we're just discovering it's abilities?
>>
>>31507955
Yeah, the US army is looking into it and has accepted a 6.5 telescoping round and rifle for testing.
>>
>>31507955
Yes.

>>31507969
This isn't the 19th century any more m8. Militaries don't just change their chamberings at the drop of a hat any more.
>>
>>31507669
You can buy Veprs in 6.5 Grendel bro
>>
>>31507969
Because production inert anon. Everyone has spent the last 40 years and millions of money units on the 5.56/5.45 rounds and their platforms. It's going to take a lot to convince anyone to drop what they already have, that's been proven to work well enough, and spend millions more on a whole new weapon system/converting existing weapons to use it.
>>
US market when?

Why is east Europe so based, bro?

Serbia is a member of the Balkans
>>
That's REALLY fucking cool. I hope it leads to cheaper ammo

>>31507743
Quick version: 6.5 has an excellent ballistic coefficient and it good for long range. It's also based off the 7.62x39 case so it's an easy conversion from AK pattern rifles
>>
>>31508062
Still slavs, still based.
>>
>>31507891
That comparison is not only inaccurate, but inappropriate. The .327 Federal actually exceeds the energy of the .357 Magnum out of longer barrels as they are commonly loaded, though if they were both loaded to the same pressure the .357 would have more muzzle energy while the .327 would shoot flatter. A less esoteric comparison would be .41 vs .44, but you run into the same problem. A comparison that would actually make sense is .38 Super (or 9mm NATO if you don't care about action length) vs 10mm, a larger round that shoots flatter and is more powerful at the cost of reduced capacity and increased recoil.

The 6.5 Grendel shoots flatter and retains more energy than the 5.56 at all ranges at the cost of significantly increased (though still minor) recoil and slightly reduced capacity. Some people are saying it's the greatest thing since sliced bread but I'd love to see it loaded a bit hotter.
>>
>>31507546
What is even the niche grendel is supposed to fill?
>>
>>31508197
Universal do-it-all caliber.
>>
>>31508197
Intermediate that doesn't suck
Faster and flatter than 7.62x39, more balls than 5.56/5.45
>>
>>31507989
6.5 NATO when??

I think I'd cum if we got some serious bulk production.
>>
>>31508033
>why is east Europe so based
Depends on where, otherwise I doubt you'd want to live there.
>>
>>31508197
Long range cartridge that fits in an AR-15 magwell.
>>
