I've been working at a decent gun store/distributer for about a month now and I finally got the go ahead for getting good deals from the boss man.

We deal heavily with Sig, heavily. Either way, as I'm going through our inventory lists I noticed we had the civvie Sig550s and I was thinking about asking for the Sig 556 classic as a first modern rifle and was wondering if anyone dealt with or knew any problems with them that I just don't want to overlook since it's my first real purchase over a 1k+ gun. We also had the SBR versions and what not, but I assume that's probably something I should get after. Any help is well appreciated /k/

1st time shooting a FN 57, friend hands me gat, I shoot five rounds. Get feel for it. Tight group at 20 feet, one shot goes astray, other four stay in 2-3" diameter.

Range time ending, friend puts a 1" splatter target on ranger paper. Puts paper at 50 feet. Hands me his 57, says there are two rounds. See if I can hit target.
1 shot dead center, 2nd shot touching.

I need something a bit more 'practical', for lack of a better word. Milsurp bolt guns are great, but I want a rifle that is somewhat not-shit for home defence or SHTF. I'm still set in my ways though, and it's gotta be something at least slightly hipster-y and ideally historical. A new-production AR-15 or something of that sort is just boring as all hell.

And of course, I'm currently flat broke. Trying to save up enough to buy a rifle before November, but my odds aren't looking good.

Do not buy a KSG, you'll only hurt your wallet and you head doing that.

If you want a double-tube pumbp action, get a UTS, they're reliable af and are simply less of a hassle than Kel-Tec's guns.

Plus the newer ones have built in flashlights and lasers.

Not that guy, but I also have one and I would HIGHLY recommend them. Ammo's a bit rare, but if you get a decent example, it'll probably be the most accurate milsurp rifle you own, if not the most accurate in general. Damn things have more in common with a Swiss watch than a military rifle.

Hell yes. It is easily the most accurate rifle I've ever shot. I've not shot any "proper" match rifles, but it's impossible to beat in its price range. The ammo availability of the GP11 surplus seems to go in waves, but if you can get some, do it. It's amazing ammo which can be gotten for a good price at the right time. I'm currently sitting on 900+ rounds of GP11 that I got for ~50cpr. In terms of precision, you won't get any better than GP11 unless you handload.

Back to the rifle, the stock sights are okay. Fairly standard notch and post, but I added the diopter for better precision. I'm not saying you can't drill holes with the stock irons, but the diopter makes it much easier - especially when it comes to sighting it in.

The trigger is fucking god-tier, especially when you consider that this was a mass-issue rifle, not a dedicated sniper rifle. It's a nice, smooth two-stage with a clean break.

tl;dr: Get one. You won't regret it.
