I have a 42, it's a good cc. my only gripe is when I shoot it since it is so thin I have to be quite aware not to squeeze the corner of the mag release when firing or it jams from not having the mag completely in. If you are mindful of this i'd say go for it.

Look hard at the 26 or 43 instead of the 42.

Nothing wrong with the 42 necessarily, but then youll need to stock .380 in addition to 9mm.

With the 43 youll only need to buy 9mm to feed both the 43 and the 17.

With the 26, you only need to stock 9mm AND you can use your 17/21/27/33 round magazines from the glock 17 in it.

First gun was an SLR-95. First handgun was a Beretta 92. Still have both.

You place an order for the gun on say aimsurplus, they require you to select an FFL to ship to, you provide them their address.

After that, it ships in ~2 days and the LGS gets it. It's common courtesy to call them ahead of time and let them know you have a firearm on the way to their shop.

Then when you get to the store, you fill out a 4473 and do a background check and if your state has a waiting period, it starts then. When you pick it up, you're charged the transfer fee and background check free and the gun is then all yours. My FFL dealer starts the waiting period on the same date as when I placed the order on the website.

I have the 19 and the 43. I would shoot the 43 or 42 before you buy it. Or at least hold it. I liked the SW shield better on paper (capacity and price mostly) but the Glock 43 fit way better in my hand so thats why I bought it.
