I went back in time and killed Stoner. And I burned Armalite to the fucking ground.

The M16 is never adopted.

BTFO Air Force.

1965. The HK-33 is adopted by the the US Army as the M33.

The rifle preforms fantastic.
No GI's die due to shit rifles.
"The German Gem."
"The Porsche of Rifles."
Or most popular
"Brass Chucker".

Easy to control on full automatic, and issued with 2, 40 round magazines along with 6, 25 round mags.

GI's could lay down overwhelming firepower.
The VC prized this weapon over the AK-47's.

During the assault on Hill 937, GI's turned NVA into Hamburger.

During the Hanoi Offensive, the rifles short profile helped in urban combat.

Pic related is a SEAL, rounding up the last VC holdouts 1970.

Someone independently develops the god tier AR platform within 2 years. All "German Gaylords" are thrown into a fire pit.

It was inevitable, an act of nature

So in this reality it leads to the R91 assault rifle in 2077?

Oh hardly. Probably just end up adopting a .223 M14 or some eventual intermediate T48 development.

How can the HK33 exist if ArmaLite never commissioned .223 Remington?
>>
>>31499866
The M16A1 is better than the HK33 though.
>>
Honestly, it would have been good if we have adopted the FAL in .280 back then.

Americans are too prideful and stupid after WW2.
>>
>>31500126
The FAL is a heavy hunk of shit with substandard inherent accuracy compared to an AR or G3.

Yes, sticking to .308 was boneheaded, but the FAL was hardly the best option at the time.
Without the AR15, a H&K roller-delayed rifle in .280 would have been a significantly more sensible choice.

You win this round ATF
>HK416
I didn't know that was standard issue.
>>
>>31500162
A FAL chambered in .280 would have reduced weight compared to a FAL in .308.

G3 is also not a lot lighter than FAL btw.

Nope, we euros were just too stupid, not prideful

At this point, America has used foreign pistols, foreign shotguns, foreign machine guns.

It's only the rifles now.

we fallout 3 now

But seriously, the M14 literally did nothing wrong
>>
>>31500447
Being super heavy while still having huge recoil and exposed receiver are a lot of thing wrong.

The M14 was fucking outdated the moment the Stg44 was made.

Eugene Stoner didn't design the AR-18.
>>

>what is the Mini-14.
>>
>>31504422
It was derived from the AR-16 (same thing but in 7.62mm NATO), and the idea was to make a cheaper alternative to the AR-15.

No Eugene Stoner, then no AR-15, and no AR-16, thus no AR-18

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArmaLite_AR-18
>>
>>31504370
That's somewhat exaggerated (as these guns didn't see sopping wet trench wars), and soldiers were kind of given some training on "how to fall" with their guns in the case of that exact thing.

>>
Better idea, go back even further and prevent 7.62x51 and the M14 from taking off so we could all have .280 bullpups
>>
>>31499889
The M1 Garand was designed by a french canadian.

Let me repeat that so you suffer more :

>CANADIAN

The select-fire AC556 variants did have some folding stocks available, as well as a thicker barrel with a flash hider and bayonet lug.

Setting aside the selective fire, the AC556 and Mini-14GB (semi-auto only), were pretty decent rifles, comparable to the modern Mini-14.

When the M16 had troubles in Vietnam (because of bad mags, overpressure ammo, etc, things which would be mainly dealt with as of the A1 model), Bill Ruger was kind of hoping to get a military contract to replace it with the AC556 line (Armalite was also looking at getting a contract for the AR18), fat chance.

But in spite of this, Bill Ruger, while a clever inventor, was a big fat faggot fudd, and didn't want civilians to have high capacity magazines or military style weapons.
While he still ran the company, regardless of if the AC556 would have replaced the M16 or not, he would make sure that Ruger was not selling the Mini-14GB, the AC556, or any magazines bigger than 10rds (meaning you would have to luck into some LEO selling theirs at an inflated price), and the regular Mini-14 would retain it's poor design choices and properties, because he had no interest in fixing it. This is not a reality that you want.

Sturm Ruger became a MUCH better company after his passing, needless to say.

He spent almost his entire life in America, that makes him American enough to matter.

Nigger, Arthur Miller designed the gun. The only relation Eugene Stoner has to the AR-18 was designing the AR-16.
>>
>>31504654
AC-556 was introduced in 1980. There was no hope of Bill Ruger getting any substantial military contracts with the Mini-14.
>>
US Adopts the Famas.
>>
>>31504840
I guess I'm just thinking of the AR18.

I know Bill really wanted some military contracts though.
>>
>>31504827
Yes, so without Eugene Stoner, no AR18, which was the original point.
>>
>>31500029
Someone is such a butthurt sperg they can't even handle the AR simply existing, and feel the need to create a fantasy world to escape it. Mental illness, basically.
>>
>>31504604
