So build project, are in the works.
I just ordered a AeroPrecision AR 10 lower to have in the drawer and just used my summer tips from my work to also order a parts kit (458 socom) for an ar15 lower I have which is kind of not in too good shape from a engraving mishap that happened at a jewlery store. (Pic related)
When this lower comes in, should I get a shotgun 12 gauge upper? Or put my money into building a decent DMR build?

planning on adding an ace ultralight stock with rifle buffer/spring
Haven't decided on upper yet. Probably going to get a cheapo 16" mid length.
Does a mid length gas system work ok with rifle buffer/spring? I get conflicting answers, and this is going to be my first build.

yeah I've heard mid-length has a "smoother recoil impulse". But I mean its 5.56, it barely registers as having recoil anyway.
Mostly I'm just worried about the rifle length buffer/spring being too heavy (or something) for the mid length to gas system to operate correctly.
I haven't been able to dig up people really talking about it, which implies it's just not an issue. But I'm curious.

Could be talking about different weights for the buffer? Ie; not the spring but the buffer itself that is part of the buffer tube.
I understand that a heavier buffer than the standard issued one is good to have in a 458 build on top of the standard spring already in your lower...

12 gauge upper kit sounds like a good time.
I'm waiting on one more package to complete my ar10 build.
