This isn't 2010 man.... even if you get one for $500 (most likely from a private sale) what about ammo, accessories, and etc? Easily an extra $200-400, just get a cheap plinker or an sks (going up in price so expect $300-400) and ammo and wait until you're out of your mom's house and have a decent job/ on your own.

If you're dead set on the $500 range, the AMD-63 from classic firearms is your best bet. It's a bastardization of the AKM-63 and the AMD-65, but it's not terrible. I'd save up for a Saiga, Arsenal, or VEPR though.

Not for 500$ the price is way jacked on AKs in general. Basically most of the rifles are not worth what the price is these days. Either save up or buy an AR.
