What's a good afordable scope for a break action pellet rifle? The scope that came with mine broke within the first couple hundred rounds, even tho it had the little point that goes into the rifles receiver that's suppose to keep the pellet rifles recoil from breaking it

Since it is the first Airgun General, here's my very old Crossman 760 pellet/bb gun. Notice how well I took care of it as a kid with all the scratches and rust on the barrel. It's from the late 1970s and surprisingly still works.

Dead accurate, and very pleasant to shoot.
Only problem with gamos is that their factory scope mounts are kindof crap and don't handle the abuse well.
I only use irons anyway, pic is old.
I plan on replacing the mount with one made of harder materials and re-scoping it though.

22 has way more power, and pellets are pretty much the same price, borderline free.

a break barrel is cheaper but it requires a special hold to fire it accurately. a pump is fine but its underpowered and typically small. a pcp is the best because its powerful and you dont need a special hold but theyre expensive.

typically people buy a break barrel and are disappointed because they hold it tight and get shitty accuracy, and the beginner break barrel is a gamo big cat in .177

Is the Benjamin Maximus still the best bang for your buck for a PCP rifle? Just discovered my local range got a scuba filling station and they fill your rifle for free being a member. I've only had Chinese springers before, I'm torn between the Maximus or getting the more expensive Marauder.

Benjamin has introduced a $200 PCP, the Maximus. Don't know if it's any good. There are also some sketchy Chinese PCPs in that price range.

I have a Remington express .22 pellet that I purchased at a liquidation store for $80 recently, it had a $149.99 Walmart sticker still on the box.

With crosman premier pellets I can group 1" at 25 yards, which is better than I need it for. It sends a .22 pellet at over 900fps, which is certainly enough to kill small game and piss off other threats. Bought it to eradicate squirrels (which tear into our insulation) and potentially the stray raccoon that gets too close to the chicken coop. Neighbors live too close to legally fire real guns and they lib-shills that wouldn't consent to firing.

Had it on my hatsan 95 for about 2.5 years and it's never given me a problem.

A little off-topic question: how would an airgun, say, a CO2 pistol, fare in self-defense? I've considered buying an ASG SIG Sauer SP2022, mainly for target practice and fun, but could I use it for home defense?

You'd be relying mostly on fear, and some pain, god help you if that doesn't work.
It's probably better than nothing for those reasons, but far from what you'd want ideally.
A full auto 22cal pellet rifle on the other hand, that could mess someone up badly without killing your ears.

Leapers or Hawke. Springers and gas ram guns have some nasty two way recoil and it fucking destroys regular scopes. You have to buy scopes built to withstand this two way recoil if you want them to hold up. Leapers and Hawke make such scopes.

Leapers scopes are damn near indestructible, have decent glass, and don't cost much. They're heavy though. Hawke scopes will be clearer and lighter, but more expensive. You should grab a one piece scope mount too to keep your poi from shifting with the nasty springer recoil.

I recently bought a .22 Crosman Vantage NP for about $100

I'm getting pretty bad groupings (about 3 inches at 10 yards) and I'm wondering if it's my fault or the gun. If it's mine, how any tips on how to be more accurate? I'm shooting with irons btw, getting a scope soon.

What if you make an air rifle with a quick exhaust valve and a barrel to shoot bullet like projectiles. What would be the effective range with 20 BAR pressure?

you have to hold it using the artillery hold-

basically a break barrel has dual recoil-the spring moves forward and that causes the rifle to move forwards and then the piston slams against the airport and that causes the rifle to move rearwards before the pellet has left the barrel. so you have to hold it as loose as possible. let the rifle recoil and youll get good groups.
