Definitely the period from from about 1870-1914. The real development of modern firearms. I love em all from the Martini-Henry to the 1911.

In terms of military technology, the US in the Gulf War.

Pre ww1. Men were men, uniforms weren't all about high speed low drag, cars looked aesthetic as fuck, every nation wasn't a pussy political correctness shithole, old world craftmanship was still preferred over disposable trash.

I would say the birth of modern warfare was the american civil war but thats also wrong. Many things have changed leading to WW2 and even today hell the mobilization of the population to wage war started in napoleons time. And its still a little dicey and how a modern war between super powers would turn out you know excluding the nukes of course. Definitely WW2 in the Pacific. It's not played upon as often as it should be but it was absolutely brutal. The war between the US and Japan was batshit insane.

I was going to get an Arisaka to go with my Garand but I'm not sure how to get ammo for the latter. I've heard it has to be custom made. I'm not even sure it fires until then.

I didn't look for the imperial seal but I'm pretty sure that at $175 the dealer I buy from probably knows it doesn't have one. They're worth way more with one.

It's not wise to shoot Japanese small arms. They were so shit (unless it's early model, but even then the early ones were left over of previous wars and early enough that heat treatment wasn't a thing) many were thrown together by school children and never properly treated. Literally the one thing japs have never mastered was small arms. Big guns, ships, planes, other infrastructure no problem. Small arms? Naw. Goes back to philosophy on warfare and tactics.
