I vastly prefer handgun range time to rifle range time.
1) More practical - if I ever need to fire a weapon in anger, it's much more likely to be my CCW. If home defense, somebody is getting drilled at <10m with my AR, which doesn't require much practice.
2) More challenging - to me, it feels much better to blow up water bottles at 40m with a handgun then at 150-200m with a rifle.
3) Cheaper, which means I get to do more of it.

No I like pistols over rifles as well. I have rifles but when I want to just blow off steam I shoot pistols. And seriously the thing I have/probably will use again in a situation is pistol.

Still does, SCARs, both 16, 17, and Mk 20, are pretty popular all over SOF.

I like shooting rifles more. But I prefer the less demanding cleaning regimen of pistols.

When I was a little kid I thought id have a room full of machine guns like burt from tremors, or that picture of the HK meeting room where all their guns are on the walls
I even hung my toy guns on my wall like burt did.
Now that im older I just have more of a practical use for pistols then I do rifles or shotguns. I still have a few, but I just find I get more everyday use out of them, and theres more variety to pick from, at least for now. If I get my dream cabin in the woods this is all susceptible to change

Honestly, I probably wouldn't shoot anywhere near as often as I do if 9mm didn't exist.

At <100 yds standing with a rifle is basically cheating, to be honest. Decent stance and there's no reason you shouldn't be able to acquire quickly and fire (outside of an actual firefight where you are panicking)
