Is this a good gun for competition and casual target shooting? I have an offer for one upgraded with a Wolff steel guide rod, all steel trigger, Wolff trigger spring, #8 hammer spring, combat spring cap, milled pin, elite hammer, wood grips and hex head screws.
>>
>>31456194
Don't waste your money.
>>
How does it feel in your hand? If you like the way it points, shoots, and works, go for it.
>>

compition ehh you can try

Ugh, always the drollest, dumbest advice

Duhhh duz it fit in ur hand duhhhh
>>
>>31456194
They're fantastic pistols, and have been used for competition shooting before by people like Ernest Langdon. They're extremely reliable and comfortable to shoot.

I personally love them and even trust my life to a compact.
>>
Beretta makes great pistols, the 92 series especially. Don't get jewed by all thesr spring and bullshit upgrades though. They're 500-600 new, don't pay that for a used one.
>>
>>31456451
Legitimate advice with the 92FS. It's good if you have gigantic ogre hands.
>>
>>31456451
because the market is mature and literally full of decent 9mm pistols
at this point, if you're buying from reputable companies, the best handgun for a man is almost entirely subjective

They're combat handguns and fantastic at that, a DA/SA platform for a competition gun might not be the best idea because of the heavy to light trigger transition, but it can be done with practice

but PX4 are even better 2bh, as long as you don't care how pretty the gun is

I have tiny babby hands and I like the 92 for target shooting. I don't know if I'd use it for comp though, or for self defense, since the safety is a bit awkward.
>>
>>31456194
>for competition
Ask Ernest Langdon or Ben Stoeger.
>target shooting
Definitely. Large metal frame really soaks up a lot of recoil. Very smooth and easy to shoot family of pistols.

Thank you
>>
>>31458236
if you think its different install the shim and see if the grip still fits
if it fits great
if it doesn't toss it
>>
>>31458320
I wouldn't say it's the next evolution, no. The rotating barrel prevents the use of most suppressors, and Beretta is still highly invested in the 92 platform. Not to mention they're coming out the APX eventually. Still, it's a neat pistol that's reliable and, in my opinion, quite sexy. But that's Beretta for you.
>>
>>31458191
I usually use the ramps at the muzzle. Im going to nd into my hand someday
>>
>>31458364
Yeah, that's a stupid idea.
>>
>>31458357
Thanks.

I'm actually thinking about trying out a Beretta next to a CZ and an H&K. Want something that's rated for +P+ rounds, was going to try out something 92 series for Beretta. Not sure what to compare it to on the H&K and the CZ side though.
>>
>>31458399
Probably a Beretta 92, a CZ-75, and I guess a USP in 9mm.
>>
>>31458452
I was thinking the USP but everytime I looked up +P+ for H&K I kept getting the VP9.

Plus CZ has a million different variations of both the CZ-75 and 85 so I have no idea what I was getting into.
>>
>>31458485
>>31458399
USP is the only gun that factory/manual advertises being rated for +P+ rounds.

I own 3 USPs and 3 Berettas. The Berettas feel a lot smoother and more polished overall, most people I think will enjoy shooting them more, but the USPs are just plain tanks that don't quit.
>>
>>31458127
How much did this setup cost?

Did you just buy a stock one and customize it yourself? Have a gunsmith do it?

Hybrid Leftover Beretta.jpg
732KB, 1500x1000px
>>31460223
The entire thing cost me about $2000, but you could theoretically lower that price by about $500 if you went about it the right way.

I started off by buying a Beretta 92 Brigadier. I then decided I wanted to make a Samurai Edge, so I found a used but good Beretta 92F with the straight dust cover. I sent the slide away to a shop to get the engravings and serrations added. I ordered a Wolff trigger conversion unit, SS guide rod, and hammer spring kit and installed those myself. Then I ordered a match target barrel from Bar-sto and had that fitted by a gunsmith. The grips are from DSGrips.com

So I was left over with a Beretta 92FS, essentially. I could sell the thing to try to make some money back, but I like Berettas a lot, so for now I've kept it. Pic is related.
>>
>>31460366
Well its very cool friend. Seems entirely worth it to me.
>>
>>31458127
1st gunz here and now I regret not saving my money for some kind of 'nonsense' like this holy shit that is awesome.
>>
>>31458515
+p+ is not an actual valid SAAMI designation - it doesn't have a set max pressure, simply "more than +p". that +p+ rating is a marketing gimmick.

Can I pay to convert a beretta 92 m9a1 to SAO?

Is it possible to pay for that to be done? I want to train with mine for competition use. I prefer SAO though.
>>
>>31460597
It's pretty nice. It combined with a lighter hammer spring really makes a lot smoother double action pull.
>>
>>31456917

Is that a compensator? I want to build something like this, vaguely robocop inspired.

C'mon man. You couldn't have cut the paper, rather than rip it? That looks terrible. Also, that inlaying looks shitty, too.

I like the concept, but the execution is flawed as fuck.
>>
>>31458399
CZ P-01 has a design requirement from the Czech Police to be able to run 15,000 +P rounds over it's lifetime. Also has NATO approval. I have about 3k through mine, and it shoots so nice my pops literally went to the store and bought one two days after shooting mine.
>>
>>31460806
it was the first run after i did some final fitting then my printer broke and im looking into another set of clear grips for another pistol too so im just going to exacto both pairs at the same time

its an ongoing project

>>31460683
We are both talking about this right? I heard it also gets rid of reliability issues with the factory spring.
>>
>>31460847
Yeah, that. There really isn't anything wrong with a factory spring, but it can fail after a lot of wear. The TCU is really easy to install and basically can't fail. It's cheap, to boot. I think it makes the double action pull smoother. With the factory spring, there can sometimes be slight hangups. So what I was trying to say is when you combine the TCU and a new, lighter hammer spring, it really cleans up the double action.

>a DA/SA platform for a competition gun might not be the best idea because of the heavy to light trigger transition
Literally never occurs unless you want it to. Chambering sets it to SA, and you can always cock the hammer yourself, even with the gun on safe.
>>
>>31458320
Yes. If you have a choice between the two, there's no reason to go with the 92 aside from the magazines.

Source: I own both.
>>
>>31460878
how does the wolf spring effect the Single action?
>>
>>31460998
Certain competitions won't let you start on single action if you're using a da/sa weapon
>>
>>31460998
It only sets it to SA if it's already off safe, keep in mind. If you have it on safe and chamber a round it automatically decocks the hammer.

I'm not sure what the rules for comp are exactly.
>>
>>31461020
The single action on the 92 is already very light and crisp. I can tell that it's even lighter yet, but in all honesty its most noticeable in DA.
>>
>>31456662

Ben Stegger won Production Nationals with a Beretta.

he shoots a Tanfo Stock II now, though.
>>
>>31461067

for USPSA, a DA/SA gun in Production (the class that makes most sense for you to shoot a Beretta in) requires that the gun is "fully decocked using the decocker" or something like that. i think safeties always have to be engaged too.

where that gets interesting is with the CZ/Tanfos since they're DA/SA but most don't have decockers. better hope that half cock notch works good.

The 92 is my sexy range queen. The PX4 is an ugly shooter.

Evolution? Not neccesarily. Think of the Compact and Subcompact as M9's for conceal carry if you will.

Though they have strinkingly similar features like the safety/decocker and ergonomics. Hell, you can actually turn it into a G model by taking two pieces out of the slide unlike having to spend $150 to get WC to do it for you with an M92.

As for answering your question straight to the point, it's actually an evolution of the Cougar.
