Gonna dump some of my FALs.

One of my Imbel kit builds from that Enterprise Arms fuckup is a good candidate for a para stock. Does anyone know if I need to re-do headspacing and locking shoulder install going from standard bolt carrier to para carrier?

Previous owner had bought them from Tapco ages ago and didn't know their value (to be fair, neither did I). Got an STG58 kit, lots of extras, and that case of mags for $1500. Was really awesome. I guess the guy didn't see himself building it and wanted the cash instead.
>>
>>31456939
Pretty sure you can get a FAL for less than $1k as long as it isn't coming from Belgium. Meanwhile the M14 is at least twice as expensive because it had a wayyyy more limited production run. You can get one from Fulton Armory.
>>

Just a few. Check on Gunwatcher. Beware anything made by Century, they are hit or miss and made from parts kits. While parts kit FAL's arent a bad thing at all, the problem is that there are 2 completely different FAL's. The inch pattern manufactured in inches by brits, and the metric version manufactured by everyone else. They arent compatible, and Century are notorious for mixing and matching into FrankenFals. This is not only stupid but dangerous. Anything marked CAI, Century, R1A1, steer clear from.

DSA makes 2 different FAL's, both of which are all made in america new parts gun, made and assembled 100% by them. The first is the SA58, made with a forged receiver, and the Voyager model which is cast. Voyagers are obviously cheaper because casting is cheaper than forging, by alot. But IMO you will break the gun in a thousand ways before a receiver wears out.

If you like FAL's go on Arizona Response Systems website. He is the FAL messiah, or was anyways for the longest time. He knows alot, shitload of good knowledge in that site. Under his armory tab he has a list of brands he will and wont work on due to quality. Avoid anything on the wont side, because its probably shit.

IMO anything made by DSA, Coonan, or genuine imports should be good. Some parts kits from reputable builders are good too, like ARS, or some of the more well known guys on FALFiles, like Gunplumber.

If I were just starting, I would either find an original Coonan build or buy a Voyager and replace the receiver later by sending it to ARS if it bothers you.

Fellow Sturmbro.

What year is your mfg? Interested because I have a wood handguard, no recoil pad, and the g1 flash hider.

Mine is 59. Think they started using the Stoss in 62?
>>
>>31458205
Yeah, I know. But no one is perfect. I was not suggesting either he buy a kit build off a Coonan unless it was done by a reputable dealer.

Coonan from like 2001-2006 built their own rifles off forged receivers they made. If you can find one of those they are good.

The quality and reputability issue plaguing them is a more modern issue than that, and didn't exist back then. Dunno what is going on with Coonan or DSA nowadays, I suspect blatant greed.

Either way, the old Coonan brand and modern FAL are better than a no-name kitbuild, and DSA stands by their product today even with quality control issues.
>>
>>31458205

lol and there was a guy on here yesterday with a broken Coonan FAL claiming that his was perfect and that everyone else who called him out on buying a Century tier parts kit rifle was stupid

I got a couple of questions:
I plan to buy a DSA FAL and want it to look like an STG 58. Will the austrian flashhider fit without work or do I need to rethread the barrel. Also are there options to order a DSA FAL with the austrian style stock and not the humpback?
Also i live in switzerland, i'm still waiting for a respond if they would send it to the local equivalent of an FFL
Real semi-auto converted STGs need a special permit here which allow the police to make sure you've got a safe to put the gun in (which they can do unannounced)
>>
>>31458453
Yeah the stg58's flash hider should fit. There used to be a DSA stg-58, dunno anymore. They still have the receiver up on their website.

Can you get a FAL manufactured semi auto only without having nazis barge in? Some nations didn't have full retard on theirs.

I have a question for you guys. Got an FAL recently and really wanted to put wood furniture on it. Guys at ironwood said they couldn't make a hand guard for bipod cut barrels because the area around the gas block is too thin/prone to breaking. How is a non cut barrel different than my cut barrel? How interchangeable are the two? If I just buy a non cut barrel, can I just swap them out? I don't have much experience with these rifles so I'm not familiar with all their details.

it doesn't, but even you have to admit that a good amount of SCAR owners in that thread are fakers who for some reason or another, think they know everything about how a real SCAR works because they read the technical specs on Call of Duty

Even the guy who claims to fire only high quailty ammo, sure some people do that but why can't he compare his grouping of GM to a similar ammo like Hornady, Fusion or Black Hills?

I guess being here for too long has made me wary of fakes
>>
>>31461266
Seconding this question. Also, how much is too much to pay for a PTR with wood furniture?

>>31461266

The scope alone will put that budget over 1500. There is only so much a 4x battle rifle scope can do at distance

Uses DPMS and KAC pattern receivers.
Merely adequate barrel quality.

If you want a better prebuilt .308 AR, both Armalite and DPMS have models that allow for less headaches.

If you don't mind assembling your own, you can do much better for the same money.

Question for you cunts.

I live in Connecticut where we have an existing AWB. I own an M1A. I'm moving to Utah in February, and I want to sell the M1A and buy a PTR91 (banned in CT or I would just do this now) but don't want to risk giving up my only battle rifle in my collection. Any suggestions or thoughts on the risk factor of me playing this out?

TLDR I'm scared hillary will get in office and ban AW before I can get to Utah to buy a PTR91 after selling my M1A. Pic related.

Vote Trump, you'll be safe from AWB BS in Utah, Hillary or no.

As much as I love my PTR, I think you made the right choice. Now is really not the time to gamble on the gun market and you still have some time to buy even if the worst did happen.

depends on who controls the house and senate after the next cycle. the real problem with a shillery presidency would be giving her at least one supreme court nomination
