My indecisiveness has kicked in. Zastava mauser action in .458 win mag for the same price. God help me that sounds fun but its literally chambered in 5 dollar bills.

I have a 557 and love it, I also plan on getting a 550FS soon.

I want to get a 550FS in .30-06 and a 527 in 7.62x39.

I own one in 7.62. It looks beautiful, it shoots straight, its lightweight, the action is smooth and gorgeous. Only downside is finding/paying for magazines and being forced to buy the CZ rings that set your scope fucking acres above the rest of the gun. Mandatory riser with scopes but the irons are amazing.

Op here. Handled a 527 in 7.62x39 today and it felt great. Really just wanted to feel the fit and finish on a cz before i bought one. Ill either be ordering the 550fs or that Zavasta next weekend. After i decide blowing a hole through an oak tree and giving every vet in a half mile radius a nam flashback is worth 5 dollars a round

I had a 550FS in 30-06

It was very light, which was great when lugging it around innamountains but it made recoil pretty unpleasant.

CZ's stocks are super comfy, but are prone to cracking in the wrist with cartridges with higher recoil. I never had any issues with mine, but it's a known issue with plenty of people online having pictures of cracks in the wrists.

I liked it well enough. I sold it at a $50 loss after a year and a half of pretty hard use innamountains. I didn't have a need for two 30-06 bolt guns, and I already had a sporterized Springfield that was a a little heavier but shot better, so I sold the CZ and kept the Springfield.

for my 557 in .270 I went with a Sporter stock, which has a stronger wrist.

If I were to buy a 550 again and I wanted one in 30-06 or .308 I'd get one with a CZ American an not one with the more comfy stock but wimpier wrist. Like I said, I had no problems but they are known issues and I'd rather not risk.

If I were to buy another 550 with the comfy stock I'd get it in something like 6.5x55 or .270 or something lighter but still capable for deer like those.

Some of the 550FS rifles have detachable magazines, most have hinged floorplate magazines, but it's not the same throughout the whole line of guns. Their 308s in particular seem to always come with detachable boxes.

They are a standard width dovetails (550 is 19mm / 527 is 16mm). but the rear dovetail on the 550/557 has a notch cutout on one side for a matching detent in the rings made for the rifle.
