YOU HAVE BEEN VISITED BY THE BASED CUPRO-NICKLE BULLET OF +10 DAMAGE. GOOD LUCK, CHEAP SURP AND BLOWJOBS WILL COME TO YOU BUT ONLY IF YOU REPLY TO THIS POST SAYING "THANK YOU BASED CUPRO"
I just got a box of Greek 303 tracer and it seems that every case has a cracked neck. Is this safe to shoot or is it better to just put away at this point?
>>31452614
Sure, why not?
>>31453015
>Dat mosin stock

New production Romanian 8mm Mauser for 45 cents/round y/n?
>clips
Saw a gorgeous Venezuelan Fn49 for $650 yesterday. I'm an idiot for not buying it aren't I?
>>31452742
Doesnt sound very safe , would be better as a collector's item
I liek milsurp.
>>31452680
THANK YOU BASED CUPRO
>>31452742
Pull the projectiles and re-load in new brass with fresh powder.
>>31453869
Pretty dumb fåm.
>>31453471
The Romanian Hot Shot 8mm is garbage. Do not buy it.
If you're going to buy factory 8mm, stick to S&B, Prvi Partizan and Hornady.
>>31454277
Here's my milsurp.
>>31454229
I am holding out for a 1895 and a 49/56. Still, I already know I'm probably gonna regret it forever.
>>31455016
How'd the gunshow go? Do you still want the Enfield?
>>31452680
Thank you based cupro
>>31456173
I bought a bunch of optics instead. So no, can't have the Enfield.
Picked up a beat up Enfield No4 Mk1 for $225 today. In relatively good shape, just grody and needs a cleaning. Having my local gunsmith look it over to see if I can fire it. Did I do good?
>>31453002
Is that a flare gun in the middle?
>>31457744
Yeah, you definitely did.
>>31454658
what is the sexieness im looking at the bottom pic there?
Does PPU FMJ ammo contain steel anywhere?
I want to shoot my MAs 36 at the range but the only 7.5 french ammo I can find is the FMJ type.
>>31457939
No, it's all lead-core cupronickel jackets and brass cases.
>>31457939
No, it's fine range ammo. Also save the brass, their brass is hard to beat.
>>31458519
stay comfy, nugget
>>31457970
>>31457958
This applies to other calibers' FMJ versions too, right?
>>31458803
Yes.
What do you guys think about M39's I have a line on a 42 in really great shape, still has the arcenal hang tag on it for about 1000 CAD. I have a couple fin M91's and a kp31, I feel like i need this bad boy for this Finn collection to be legit. is it work the hype, or just another mosin? should i spend the money on something else in the finn family?
>>31459552
Not just another Mosin, but $750 would be a lot to pay for a run-of-the-mill wartime rifle in the US, even if it's in good shape. How common are M39s in Canadia?
>>31459796
I've never seen one in the flesh common.
Hard to compare to something, but i would say quite uncommon
I also like the thought of an M27, but those are even more uncommon to my knowledge.
The price is pretty much he going rate for M39's up here since the recent batch came in from the states. A two or three months ago they were going for 1200ish.
Anyone have any experience with French M2 Ball?
I have a few questions. It may be considered spoonfeeding, but I don't see the harm in asking fellow milsurp owners.
1) I have a 91/30 with some rust spots on the buttplate. I can't tell if those were already there or if they appeared since I've owned it. No matter what I do with my 000 steel wool, it won't come off. Is it an issue? How do I get rid of it without hurting the finish?
2) My k98's steel has a "patina" and looks almost orange/brown in some areas. It looks nothing like rust and feels glossy to the touch. What the hell is going on there, and do I need to take any steps to prevent it from getting worse?
>>31460309
Corrosive primed, but accurate for service ball ammo.
>>31460892
Penetrating tool oil and a rag/bronze wool. Don't use steel if you want to preserve the finish.
Langegewehr besten Gewehr
>>31461215
dont you have like 500 rounds?
>>31461341
Yeah somewhere. I don't shoot 30-06 often and when I do I reload so I'll probably never shoot it. I've been meaning to dig it out but can't remember where the fuck I put it.
>>31461361
How Much
>>31461385
How about I find it first before we worry about whether I'm going to sell it or not.
>>31461474
>>31454237
How bad are we talking? Because S&B is $25/box where I live
>>31452614
>Buy rifle
>Tag says M48
>Get deal at $142
>Turns out it's an unmolested M24 from 1939
>Score for my first Mauser
>>31461644
>My Gander Mountain wants $349 for their mis-matched M24/47s
Fucking hate that store desu.
>>31461731
Sexy looking rifle.
On that topic, fuck chain store outfitters, they are totally ignorant on every facet of used firearms. At least 1/10 used guns at my local Cabelas are mislabeled, one Enterprise Arms p500 was listed as a "Colt Government"
>>31461644
The Romanian 8mm is not very accurate, and it causes sticky bolt.
>>31461644
Woah woah woah... a unmodified m24? As in no 47?

>>31461781
Fuck. Will it hurt my gun?
Hopefully at the next gun show I can add another piece to the wall. What I don't know, but something
>>31457911
It's an Stgw 57, also known as a SIG SG 510, or in the US as the SIG AMT. It was the standard service rifle of the Swiss Army and I believe holds the record for the most expensive mass-issue rifle in the world. They are nice, but amazingly heavy (~12.5 lbs). My uncle had one and I was mad jelly.
>>31461876
>>31461893
>>31461909
FUCK did you get lucky. I salute you.
>>31462010
Thanks, Cabelas had it listed as an M48 in 0.8mm caliber lol
>>31462038
Yeah, at a minimum that's a $800 gun. I've seen them go for a couple thousand.
>>31457744
Orlando? I saw one around me recently and I really wanted it, but decided to be poor instead.
Too lazy for good photography.
>>31462052
Wait... what? I thought it was uncommon, but not rare, $300- $350 rifle?
It's a 1939 manufacture if that changes thing, a few got imported by Navy Arms in the 90's this one had a box labled "Navy Arms, #120"
>>31462092
To elaborate
>Kingdom of Yugoslavia manufactured M24's made in 1939 sitting in crates
>Some shit happens
>About 40,000+ rifles in a consecutive serial range end up in Turkey in the 90's
>Most used by Turkshit military between the 40's(?) And 90's
>Imported to USA
>Nearly every surviving M24 I have seen is from that batch.
>>31461947
Potentially.
You should just avoid it. With factory 8x57, it pays to be selective about what you shoot.
>>31462052
>Yeah, at a minimum that's a $800 gun. I've seen them go for a couple thousand.
I think $500 is probably the most optimistic estimate.

>>31462300
Fuck, my roommate got me a couple boxes from cabelas already. I don't think he paid too much, I'll keep it as emergency ammo for the end times.
>>31462394
Then I'm probably thinking of some other Mauser variant, of which there are thousands. Or I'm quoting a price from Simpsons.

My latest three, No.4 MK1 1948 production, M48 Mauser, 1953-56 production, and a previously unfired 1979 norinco sks.
Shitty phone pic, but heres Sir Lee-Enfield and Comrade Mosin on my wall.
I asked in a QTDDTOT tread but since this is a milsurp thread I'll ask here:
http://www.jgsales.com/-p-80642.html
Worth it? For $250 I can get a rifle, bandoleer, stripper clips, and 160 rounds of milsurp ammo
Waiting for my Yugo SKS
I'm actually really looking forward to de cosmolining the thing.
>>31466674
For a project gun fuck yes
>>31452680
Thank you based cupr
>>31466831
Curious, what for you mean as a project gun? What kind of work would you think a project would involve. I"ve never milsurped before
>>31452680
Thank you based cupro
>>31466915
Most milsurp (in my experience) needs a fee things here and there worked on/repaired/restored. Kinda like getting q classic car. It's fun
>>31457781
No, that's a walther p38
>>31467023
Okay that makes sense. Now to convince the wife to let me buy one.
1 more day until I can pick up my new gun.
So fucking bored right now.

Why does this mauser have a half circle indentation in the top of the reciever? Why do/don't all mausers have this?
>>31468732
I don't imagine that muzzle break is factory/issue original?
>>31470612

To feed cartridges more easily. It's a Gewehr 1888, originally loaded with a packet of 5 cartridges on an en-bloc clip that fell out the bottom of the magazine when empty. The Germans later adopted the Gewehr 1898 which fed individual rounds into the magazine from stripper clips. This meant that the rifle could also be fed with individual rounds, and the clip was not required to make it function as a repeating rifle (the Gew.88 needs the clip inside the magazine to hold the cartridges in proper position).
The Germans began converting the Gew.88 to feed from the same Mauser stripper clips as the Gew.98. This necessitated adding material to the receiver bridge to hold the stripper clip in place while the rounds were slid down off it into the magazine. However, the addition of this material meant that the front of the cartridges in the stripper clip now scraped against the rear of the receiver ring, sometimes inhibiting loading. Thus, a notch was made in the rear of the receiver ring for clearance of the projectile tips. You also see this on a lot of rifles that have been re-chambered for rounds longer than their action was originally designed for.
