They were mass produced by a communist state as an element of the mass troops/arms doctrine. Don't expect quality in accuracy. They work because they had to, but were cheap in tech and construction for that reason.

the ar15 would be a solid choice. it's inexpensive and easy to shoot, very easy to tailor exactly to what you want. I love mine. But owning an ar15 doesn't get you many /k/ points. It's a "boring" gun.

I wouldn't drop $3500 on my first damn rifle. that's a bit excessive. Maybe after optics, magazines, a sling, and a weapon light I could touch $2500. BUT, if you really want to spend that much, scar 16. A little heavier than an ar15, but it's such a smooth shooter. I really wished I saved up my pennies and bought the $2200 one at my lgs 3 years ago.

for a civ, that would be a Windham m4gery in 223 wylde. for 3.5k you can have a nice 6x optic and a 45° offset RMR too which really is all you need.

If you really want a gun, one gun, that does it all with that budget. Get a scar17, good caliber for everything but small game. Little expensive, but if you have a budget like that I assume it doesn't matter.

You will get this all without a RAPTAR ES and still have money to buy 20 magazines and 1000 rds of m193 from PMC or any other high end brand. Just remove the things you don't or cannot find anymore. BE advised there are currently no more LE tavors in FDE so your gonna have to pay around 1750+ for yours. A good AR-10 is where it's at. If you need to learn to the shoot, .308 can be a little expensive; but if you already know how to shoot, it's a good choice. Much better all-around cartridge than 5.56 for most situations. Also very effective hunting cartridge, will easily take any big game in North America.

If you really wanted to go fucking crazy, get the Scar17; the reason I don't recommend that is you'll still have to get an optic and all that which can cost another $1,000 or so. So you can get a good AR-10 with accessories for about $1500, then add the optic, bring you well within your budget.

weight is perfect for me didn't you see the scale? some of the things added "removed weight" heck the new charging handle alone cut almost 3 oz off the front and the trigger pack removed 2.5 ozs off the rear. 10oz for a PEQ box that has a light 2 lasers and adjustable beam IR light is impressive. everything's zeroed and drives tacks at 100 yards for me. I was next to someone with a daniel defense ar at my local range 2 days ago the concussion was enough to shake my handful of paper targets off the table 5 meters away! I wanted it plastic to remove rust and minimize corrosion. OP wanted to be hardcore he would buy a G36 CLONE so he's not the same as the rest of the ar 15 pack.
