I have one I bought just so I can shit on it and be able to say I've used it. They feel alright on their own, but you can't load them with stripper clips right like you can the originals, and that's a deal breaker for me. The follower has this habit of tilting back and it makes the rounds bind up crooked.

The fact that you view it as a "platform" for attachments means your opinion is bullshit.
You can have a pattern of rifle but you don't use a Honda Civic "platform" because of the upgrades; you use it for a car and it has a lot of nice upgrades.

But the upgrades are secondary.

The same is true of guns.
You use an SKS, AK, or AR as a gun first and foremost; not as a device to hang extra shit off of.

Also, no. It doesn't.

It just means reloading takes longer and that it's a bulkier gun. The AK does the same thing better because the mags are detachable and it doesn't add plastic breakable Chinese made shit onto it.

And I don't even have an SKS; I have an AK.

Yes. I own a Mauser.

They're not as fast as changing magazines. That would be why you should have bought an AK.
Tapco magazines are a pain in the ass to carry though, as the shit sticking out the front prevents the use of a chest rig (at least it prevents one from using one easily). And topping one off with three clips isn't going to be as fast as just changing a magazine.

So this leaves the dilemma of "carry more magazines" vs "use stripper clips"

In the end it's easier to carry more ammo for an SKS on clips than in magazines, and with that said, using three clips every time you reload is a pain in the ass.
So.
Most people would then start off with a thirty round magazine of ammo and then transition to ten round reloads, firing in between. This then leaves the thirty round magazine as a novel but pointless device that just makes things more complicated and removed the SKSes use as a handy woods carbine that you can just grab with a few rounds and go.

Ever tried carrying a gun with the shape of an SKS?
Notice how they naturally have a center of gravity right on/in the action?
And that because of this, most people carry the gun with one hand over the action?
It eliminates that.
Which means one is now forced to carry it over their chest, making it even more cramped for the magazines you want.

To sum it up, it negates the handiness and adds camp location to the reload process of the gun, whilst only adding something some chucklefuck at the range would want in an SKS.
And anyone who would ever consider these things a tactical advantage is already using an AK.

So why have it?
Other than to make an SKS seem more tactical, which is pointless because AKs cost the same nowadays.

The Pardner is a good budget entry for H&R but it is still a heavy Chinese clone and the fact that it usually gets suggested first in shotgun threads is discounting too much of the market that has better track records.
