Has anyone here ever tried vacuum sealing their ammo? I've been reading about it, and it seems like a good idea. Looking for some tips/experiences.

I do it quite often when I have loose rounds that need to be organized.

makes me happy.
>>
>>31403303
goddamn you stupid nigger
>>
>>31403346
oh yeah i also tumble the older stuff to make it shiny and pretty and store longer & cycle better.

inb4 busting up the powder, i did an extensive test on powder degradation for an entire week, with live ammo tumbling and various ammo types and ages, the powder does not do anything but move around.

just fyi in case you like to clean up your tarnished ammo. throw in a little wax.
>>
>>31403322
Ammo is for shooting not 'long term storage'.

Go actually shoot. Thinking you'll sit around vac sealing your ammo and posting unboxing videos of your latest Magpul shipment while waiting for SHTF when you'll morph into a Super Operator is fallacy.

You should treat yourself to a new purse to carry it around in too.
>>
>>31403376
are you the same fuckass that said he only carries five rounds because he's not a tacticool fantasy world operator guy?

"long term storage" includes protecting things from the elements like humidity and so on. in your mommy's house you don't have to worry about that because mommy and daddy get you tendies and bullets when you call.

you sound like a huge faggot.
>>
>>31403387
The fuck does that have to do with not recognizing the most common food ever? You think it says chechen breast? We all ahte the niggers but jeez

mother fucker, i would just like one chance to meet you in a dark alley and show you my purse.

in case you didn't know (i'm sure you don;t) clean, waxed brass is more reliable and is resistant to tarnish.

but you buy tulammo and dont know jack shit about anything so you just run your fucking mouth.
>>
>>31403401
he can't afford more than a 20 round box at a time
>>
>>31403401
Yeah best move is whatever you do DON'T EVER ACTUALLY SHOOT. Vac bag your ammo then post pics online of how genius you are.

If your ammo is sitting around long enough to be fucked by humidity you are one no shooting son of a bitch.

kek. two weeks ago i blew about $500 in 50cal, 556 and 308.
last weekend was $40 in .22 for shits and giggles, and $2 in pellets for squirrel.
i have about 15k rounds in storage, with components for another 2-3k 556 and 308.

get a better job nigger.
>>
>>31403422
I bet you would gay blade.

Waxed brass is retard tier autismo. Do you think all that 7n6 from the 70s that is in perfectly shootable condition even now was lovingly waxed, vac packed, and slipped into some fag's purse for 'long term storage'? No, it was steel cases wrapped in paper packed in wooden boxes sitting on the floor of a leaky Russian warehouse with cold war era construction quality. And that shit is fine.

So go ahead and vac pack your fucking Blazer brass like a fag. The rest of us will just shoot and be happy.
>>
>>31403392

isn't it a school night? shouldn't you be in bed?
>>
>>31403540
>retard tier autismo

you have to be at least 18 to post here

and wax is standard additive for all tumblers.
>>
>>31403387
I'm dyslexic too but I know what meat looks like. They don't turn into lungs backwards.

I have bullets from the 60's that look brand new. People still shoot surplus rounds that were stored in cans for a few decades in a garage. It's kind of pointless unless you actually use black powder and caps or take ammo on boating trips.
>>
>>31403505
Yeah I'm sure you did, lists like that posted on the internet are always reliable.

Have fun running the vac bagger tonight to seal up the 1 WWB you picked up at Walmart. Wouldn't want it to get dingy looking over the 10 years it will take you to shoot through it.
>>
>>31403559
don't talk to me kid
>>
>>31403567
For idiots it is.

I don't tumble my brass at all, makes for less fuss at the reloading bench and pisses off the ammo-as-a-fashion-show crowd. Win win.
>>
>>31403559
Did you run your fingers over the brim of your fedora after you posted that?
>>
>>31403540
Wow you are one ignorant fellow. If you reloaded you'd know that wax is SOP for tumbling any brass.

Go release your pillow punching anger elsewhere.
>>
>>31403392
There's literally nothing wrong in maintaining the appearance of your possessions
>>
>>31403606
wow you are so smart! and you wear out your dies and guns faster too!

GREAT idea, fucktard.
>>
>>31403258
No, I just keep my ammo in sealed in PVC tubs that I flood with nitrogen. Whenever I have a nitrogen tank that is about dry, I'll flush out the last of the tank into one of my storage tubs, then make a seal with a heat-gun. Nitrogen is slightly more buoyant than air, so it will eventually leak out, but the PVC is about 15 mm thick, so it will take a while.

The nitrogen keeps the rounds away from Oxygen, which will corrode the rounds, and keeps them dry from moisture in the air.
>>
>>31403606
just keep doing shit wrong and making fun of those who do it correctly, you'll be really successful
>>
>>31403540
Sure they made rounds with high tolerances, but that's like saying that your truck was given certain weight tolerances, so you should always load it to those tolerances. Why would you force your rifle to handle poorly-kept and made rounds?

Anyway, wax is one of the big steps for tumbling brass. Why wouldn't you do it?
>>
>>31403624
>>31403633
You'd need a co-signer for my primer bill alone, yet my dies and chambers are doing just fine.

that's a good idea for storing all kinds of stuff, did you buy a tank and just have it filled at a local welding supply?

Wax isn't a 'big step' for tumbling brass. Plenty of reloading manuals suggests dry media, and lots of people these days do wet tumbling which involved no wax at all.

Waxing media like corncob or walnut has never been shown to increase reliability at all.

i think the problem here is that you;re welcome to go ahead and be a dirty fuck and reload without cleaning your brass like a savage ape, but your insistence on making fun of those who clean and maintain their items makes you look like a total jackass.

just FYI
>>
>>31403575
man thats a sick burn. i wish i had thought of that first.
>>
>>31403701
Seeking validation from an anonymous chinese cartoon site fails again.

I was specifically making fun of people who, instead of shooting their ammo, contrive ways to 'long term store' it, but then the shiny brass crowd showed up to get butthurt I don't share in their pointless time wasting navel gazing brass polishing so I took the opportunity to call them out too.
>>
>>31403691
it is very common.

there is nothing wrong with it.

your "data" proves nothing.

get over it.
>>
>>31403744
>>31403701

>>
>>31403704
If I had a dollar for every time you wished you were me I could pay a guy to wash, wax, and vac pack all my ammo.
>>
>>31403744
no, no - you're mistaking your asinine behavior for "calling someone out" for cleaning their brass.

it may be just a simple mistake, but i'm here to help you along so you can change your ways.

do you stand outside the car wash and throw rocks at the clean cars while standing by your dirty POS?
>>
>>31403745
I didn't provide any data you moron. I asserted you brass waxers have never provided any to back up your imaginations telling you waxed brass feeds more reliably.

If I grease the everloving shit out of my AK and then vacuum seal it and then put it in a PVC pipe filled with grease and then bury it will it survive 5 years?
>>
>>31403767
Cars aren't consumables.

Protip: your brass will get dirty when you fire it.

Big reveal for many of you I know, and very disconcerting I'm sure, but maybe someday you'll learn that fact in the first hand.
>>
>>31403783
>Waxing media like corncob or walnut has never been shown to increase reliability at all.

this was your claim. This claim asserts that you have data to back it up.

but you can not back it up. hence the quotes.

this is the same as someone saying "minerals have never been proven to improve health".

it's a sweeping generalization that has no evidence to back it up, but it's used to try to "prove" a point.
>>
>>31403819
>Cars aren't consumables.
when you get a little older and own one you'll think differently about them.
>>
>>31403793
just use cosmoline, and yes it will last longer than that friendo. cosmo will be easier to clean than the grease.

but you could use grease in a pinch
>>
>>31403834
computers are now consumables i guess, my insurance guy told me they are considered disposable like toasters when he went through my house and i was going to show him all the computers to add to the list, kek
>>
>>31403819
brass is not considered a consumable because it is re-used many times. brass would be considered a semi-durable good.
