To my untrained eye it looks like a Brown Bess (aka Land Pattern Musket of 1731, standard issue to the British Army 1731-1840s)

Do any Sub-Saharan African countries produce firearms? It isn't rocket surgery.

lock looks too small to be one of the land pattern iterations. probably some variety of english trade musket, they were often gifts/used in trade (hence the name)

Course some folk just use em for economical sense. AKs and ammunition are valuable and best left for defending the village, why waste ammo for it hunting when a cheaper way is peasant.

The Germans had their own colonial spree in Africa. Maybe they brought along some of their old shooting irons as gifts or trading goods to local tribes.

The barrels are sound and the locks are hand-forged and of surprisingly good quality. The stocks are clubby and covered in varnish. The first thing any black powder reenactor does is disassemble their Indian gun, sand the stock down until it's about two pounds lighter, refinish it, put a patina on all the steel parts with lemon juice or soda pop, then put it all back together.

Depending on where they choose they may end up being quite good actually. Just btibe the local goverment and get the permits and ship the parts in. The local workforce would work for sub-china wages which means very little cost. The main problem would be getting decent techinical workers, but we can import white for the top brass and use the darkies on the plants themselves.

To be fair the hammer is not pulled back and it probably isnt loaded either. And there is a good chance the photographer asked the guy t opose like that for a better shoot.

And yeah, it is probably using a piece of flint from some local quarry or something.
