Morning /k/omrades.
So, maybe many of you as me are sick of cheapo Baofengs and simmilar stuff. The problems with the programming, the wires, the connectors... I've sent to hell two of them already, so I am asking:
What's the next step for a reliable radio device? What do you fellow /k/omrades would use when SHTF? I need to have standard connectors of some sort to use them with earphones and microphones, and to be available in Europe if possible.
Thanks!

Icom
Kenwood
Yaesu
Prepare to drop at least $400 on a decent setup.
>>31383839
Thanks Anon. What model would you recommend me for something the size of a regular baofeng or a extended battery one?
Any ideas?
>>31383650
>The problems with the programming, the wires, the connectors
literally a kenwood to usb and CHIRP on a computer
>>31383650
UHF or VHF?
Baofeng make decent radios for the price.
For VHF I would buy Kenwood or Motorola, I live in Zimbabwe and see all the private security carry those two brands. And niggers could break and fucking anvil.
They're solid, personally for VHF I use a Kenwood TK-2406, but that's a Middle East, Russia, and Africa model, get your equivalent in Europe.
You're spending what, 30 dollars on something that would typically be 300+ dollars from almost any other manufacturers. They're a good thing to get started with, if you don't like ham radio you're only out a few bucks.

Yes. That's why I am looking for a more profesional option. I mean, it's pretty obvious what I want. A profesional alternative. I am okay with spending +300USD.
Any models you sugest? Or just being a dick?

Yaesu VX-7/VX-8.

>>31384183
OP wants something small and handy.
>>31384183
200 watt amplifier? Doesn't that require a license?
>>31383650
>Baofengs
Did you try a Baofeng?
>>31384262
yes but they dont ask about a license when you buy them
>>31383972
To be honest, I am looking for something that can be used as versatile as possible. Tri-band I think. People here in my country use the YAESU VX 8DE a lot.
>>31384182
Thanks bro.
>>31384183
I am looking for a handheld device is possible. Thanks anyway.
>>31384275
Yeah, thanks.
>>31384379
there are some pretty decent hand held CBs but you would probably have to replace the rubber ducky antenna with something better
>>31383650
vertex
icom
kenwood
yaeseu
pay once, cry once
>>31383909
OP doesnt realize that all the manufacturers have their own proprietary software, connectors, batteries, chargers, ect...
>>31384262
it doesnt matter because he likely doent know how to properly tune/mount his antenna anyhow and all that power will will just radiate out as heat and static
>>31384379
what do you really need triband for?
or do you just want it because its something you think you might need or think will be useful?
how does one into trunked radio nets?
>>31383972
>I live in Zimbabwe
>>31383839
any of them have frequency hopping?
>>31388409
Illegal in USA and most other countries unless you're military or government service.
>>31388422
Damn...Thanks dude.

While I'm here. I'm trying to find the long whip for the UV-82 but I can't find anything that specifically says which is which.
what are some good old VHF personnel radios that i can find?
looking for a real old cinderblock as long as it has that aesthetic
>>31383650
There's really no radio that has connectors compatible with everything. In most cases, a brand, maybe a couple of brands, will share connectors. In most cases, everything will be the same within a brand. For example, my speaker mics and earpieces that have kenwood pinouts will work with all the kenwood and baofeng radios I have. My Yaesu handheld accessories will work with all Yaesu handhelds. My Yaesu mobile equipment will work with all Yaesu mobile units. You kind of have to choose what you'd like to go with. I've kind of commited to Yaesu for my manpack equipment, though for HTs, I have Yaesus, Motorolas, Baofengs, and Tyteras and more, so I have a shit ton of accessories.

Amplifiers on CB are straight up illegal. The limit is 4 watts.
>>31388484
Old Motorola Sabers look fucking awesome and they have crypto built in. You can find them on ebay.
>>31388590
Hey radio sempai.
Can you link me to a good long whip for the UV-82.
This is what I have picked out.

>>31385873
>doent know how to properly tune/mount his antenna
fuck off. everything is tuned properly and my SWR barely pushes 1.2 at any given moment
>>31383650
Yaesu, Kenwood, and something starting with "i". Good luck.
>>31389293
I've never used a telescopic antenna like that one before, but it looks fine. You might want to get a smaller whip for mobile use, but if you just want to whip it out occasionally when needed, this should be fine.

>Old Motorola Sabers look fucking awesome and they have crypto built in.
Newradiofag here: I thought that was illegal.
>>31390907
Ya they kind of are... but they're fucking cool and I would buy some anyways if I had the money.
