If you register then you can never transfer it to another person and will be turned in/destroyed when you die. You can unregister it if you make it featureless which is the best temporary option imo.

>>
>>31383417
you can make it featureless and it'll still be compliant. fixed stock, muzzle brake/compensator, and no pistol grip.
alternatively you get an actual fixed mag. franklin armory sells some that has little tabs on it so you have to put it through the top of the lower when the upper is out of the way. there's also a system that has a mag release that is only usable when the gun is similarly open and therefore not a fireable super scary assault weapon.
>>
>>31383514
according to the laws not unless it is made compliant first.

>>31383417
you could have also detached the gun from the centerfire upper and put a rimfire upper on top which would therefore make it not an assault weapon
>>
>>31382550
>>31383401
question is, should I break the law to not have to suffer these abominations?

>>31383540
>you could have also detached the gun from the centerfire upper and put a rimfire upper on top which would therefore make it not an assault weapon

so they actually know this fact? I thought lawmakers were dumb and didn't know these things
>>
>>31383557
the assault weapon wording specifically states centerfire so if you slapped a 22lr upper on top or even changed out the bolt to a 22lr one it would not be an assault weapon

back in the day they couldn't declare rimfire as being assault weapons because everyone would have looked at them like they are retards. not even the fuddest fudd would have agreed with it.
>>
>>31383544
hold out till the end of Trumps first term. Best case is the SC takes up and AWB and blows them out. worse is cali goes its own way down the shitter and then plan accordingly
>>
>>31383540
Wait, you can just separate the upper from the lower and you're now safe? What's the legality behind this shit?
>>
oh and do the current batch of politicians understand what rimfire is versus centerfire? probably not, and they don't really care, but again, they couldn't declare rimfire as the making of an assault weapon

they won't go door to door because they know it'd cost more money and eventually someone would get shooty. they don't even actively pursue people who are listed as mentally ill and who have firearms but will only go for your guns if you pop up for some reason and they run your records.

>>
I hate to tell you this Calibros, but its fight or flee time.

The politicians have rigged the system so much, I don't think you will EVER win back your gun rights by ballot.

That said, if you want to be a hero, do not comply. Make the cops invade your home. You will die in a hail of gun fire or be hauled off to prison. Either way, if it happens enough word will spread of honest citizens turned into criminals overnight by your shitty governor and they will be the bad guys for firing the first shot. MAYBE then something could happen.

Alternatively, pack your shit and leave for greener pastures. Let the savages destroy themselves.
>>
>>31383604
>>31383569
it's no longer a centerfire rifle when it doesn't have anything with which to shoot. all you have is basically a trigger demonstrator

there is a thing called constructive possession but as long as they don't see a centerfire upper around they can't do anything. probably won't anyway.

>>31383742
featureless guns are not assault weapons which is why it is an option

Under existing law, “assault weapon” means, among other things, a semiautomatic centerfire rifle or a semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has any one of specified attributes, including, for rifles, a thumbhole stock, and for pistols, a second handgrip.
This bill would revise this definition of “assault weapon” to mean a semiautomatic centerfire rifle, or a semiautomatic pistol that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of those specified attributes. The bill would also define “fixed magazine” to mean an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action.

if you don't have a specified attribute it's not an assault weapon

>so should i register

Let me tell you what will happen if you register:

You WILL be forced by gun point one day to turn them over. It won't be tomorrow, maybe not next year, but EVERY TIME a government in the modern era registers firearms, confiscation soon follows.

Do you know why the conservatives are so angry when new gun laws get passed? It's because they KNOW in their hearts they'll comply and willingly hand over their guns, just like the brits did.

DO NOT comply if you actually understand the true meaning of the 2A and why it's important.

>>31383864

The savages need their metropolitan city centers. Most of the rural flyover states will never be attractive places for them to settle.

>>
150k in SF is still a good amount of money
you're looking at about 98k post tax

even with shit-tastic bay area rent (figure 3k a month if you want a solo spot - yes, it's that fucked up) you're still left with 68k for everything else and that's enough to comfortably live on and then some. since anon is going to have his rent paid for 6 months that's not bad. dump as much as you can into savings so when you do move elsewhere you will be that much richer. invest in 401k and whatever the hell.

i live on much, much less than that in the bay area (with roommates) and still have a bunch of guns. not rich enough to buy fancy cars but i can go out to eat

for reference's sake:

gas: around $2.50 a gallon right now near SF
milk: $3.something a gallon I think
bananas: 59 cents a pound
large bag of chips: bought on sale at $2.50 each
cookies: $2 a package on sale
that double box of frosted miniwheats at costco: $9

buy cheap, stack deep, and food costs shouldn't be too horrible.

gun laws, as explained, are horrible, and a bunch more are going into effect next year. i don't remember when the internet ammo sales one kicks in but there are ways around that.
>>
>>31384083

>>
>>31384061
how close do you actually have to be to SF? do you have to report in to a corporate building in the city? if you don't need to be in the city itself then look at places like sacramento where it's much cheaper to live in. it's a 2 hour drive (3-4 if traffic sucks) but if you don't have to go there that often might be beneficial for the savings. sacramento has an airport so you could fly out of there
>>
>>31384093

Please tell me what's wrong with registering my AR. California has had assault weapons for decades now and never come to take them away, so that argument's out the fucking window.

I just want to understand why some people who own guns don't want to be law abiding citizens.
>>
>>31384094

They literally just made a law that banned "grandfathered" 30 round magazines in California.

Grandfathering literally means nothing since in the future, bans can get to that level just by the whim of fucksticks in power. It took them 20 years to completely ban possession, but they still did it.
>>
>>31384100
unless you're being forced to do it, there's nothing wrong with registering your AR.

the issue here is the people who are now being forced to register their ARs were law abiding citizens BEFORE these arbitrary laws were thought up,
and now through no fault of their own they'll be breaking said laws and risking fines/jail time even though they're the same exact law abiding citizens and have done nothing wrong
>>
>>31384116
SF downtown happens to be the area with the highest rent. also the worst parking. don't expect to have a car if you get a place down there. soma, finance district, mission, all those places are going to suck for parking.

it's cheaper towards the outskirts (west, areas like the sunset, or south, like glen park) but only relatively so. rent still sucks total ass. parking is fine in the outskirts though. your best bet for commuting is taking public transit because besides the parking problem is the traffic. going into SF or going through SF sucks because of the traffic.

you can also look at oakland (shittier neighborhoods, hipsters in the neighborhoods that aren't shitty, but they have "fun stuff" to do) or down the peninsula (daly city, south san francisco, san bruno, and to some degree millbrae and burlingame) for cheaper rent. go too far south and you run into silicon valley hell which sucks just as much in rent as SF does. mountainview, menlo park, palo alto, san jose, etc). oakland and most of the peninsula up to millbrae and you can hop on bart and take that into the city. SFO airport is nearest to san bruno strangely enough.
>>
>>31384147
oh and caltrain goes from san jose to san francisco and pretty much every city inbetween. the san francisco stations will probably require you to take a bus from there to your head office. the closest one to downtown is probably 4th and king near the ballpark which is kind of downtownish. traffic especially sucks there.
>>
>>31384126

Ultimately, I can admit that getting a MMG and a muzzle brake is probably the best option, since no law really bars us from keeping the extra parts for use in situations where there is no law (read: never). Plus, with a non-pistol grip, we can still have a standard mag release, right?
>>

I have two lowers sitting around and waiting to go. I'll be registering one and not the other. That'll change when Newsom gets into office and you know it. He's an anti-gun Jesus freak ultralibtard -- ordinarily an impossible combination, but not in SF. He WILL go for forcible confiscation -- not door to door, but people will be targeted and hit and their lives will be destroyed, over and over. Kill the chicken to frighten the monkey, etc.

And at some point in rural NorCal, someone will band together with their neighbors and try to hold them off, Bundy-ranch style. Christ only knows what will break at that point.

You have less than two years to shelter in place or create an escape plan.

Hol up hol up. Do politicians actually think that making the pistol grip go full autismo actually make these guns "safe". I don't know much about calicuck gun laws but if this is true, I-I honestly don't know how to finish this sentence over how fucking stupid that is, and even more so that people actually agreed to these laws and think they make them less "mass shootery".

yes, this is what "assault weapon" laws are all about, banning guns that don't look like they were also your grandpa's.

So any rifles purchased before 2014 are 'off the books?'

I have to register most of my guns, but my SKS would be good enough if shit went down and they confiscated.

I feel like I can commit the same amount of damage using a 5 round bolt action rifle with stripper clips or a six shooter revolver and speedloader than a shooter with an "assault weapon". I feel like politicians don't actually make gun bans because they hate guns or they think that it will solve any problems but that trying to answer the real problems like depression, poverty, violent cultures being developed through centuries of being enslaved ( black on black crime, black communities being stat, more violent) and culture clashes are actually difficult problems to solve and actually takes work, but "oh these assault weapons, these are clearly the problem and by ridding them from the earth there will be no more school shootings, gang violence, suicides, race wars, holy wars, etc. every time I look at the news it's always the same. And what's worse is that people truly believe that ridding away guns will fix anything and not trying to understand the why was the gun used part. Of course the obvious comeback being "guns are designed to kill people". Yes this is true but in the end an AK is no different than a shovel in that they are tools. And that it is up to who is using the tool decides it's true purpose. Trucks are designed to deliver cargo from point A to B, try telling that to the dude who went all GTA on 100 French citizens.
Sorry for the Long post but someone's gotta say it so shit why not me.
>Tl;dr gun laws/ignore the true problems of society.
Thank you for reading. HOLY FUCK.

I feel ya, my AR has a spur grip but it's not too bad, you get used to cuck grips pretty quickly.

It doesn't matter when you purchased them. The state is legally bound to delete DROS information after a month and I've never heard of a gun shop actually handing over their books.

Yes you can, it just needs a mag lock. Though I'm not sure how that's going to work with the new restrictions in place, I'm not sure how you can dissasemble a shotgun action enough to unlock the mag.

Don't comply have a cuck set up for the range and a normal set up for SHTF. Basically halal on the streets but haram in the sheets.
