my girlfriends dad bought a place where the sellers family hadn't cleaned the basement since the 30's. there was newspapers and shit going back to june 12 1937.

that floor was fucking covered with shit. it looked pretty good once i flooded it in a inch of water, and wet vac'd it out a few times. epoxy safety floor sealer works great, especially if you really want to piss people off and throw in a few OZ of Glominex into it, and put blacklights down there. he thought that was great idea, and we would go down there to get stoned and listen to YES.

we kept most of them, since her mom was into that kind of stuff, but sadly most of it was all fucked up. this was about 10 years ago or so, i know she had the one newspaper front page framed, since it was the birthday of her mom's father. It sounds spergy but i liked doing archeology in places like that.

we had to rewire the house since someone had done a SHIT job in the aluminium wiring days,and it had screw in fuses. and the copper pipe was worth more than the house was. we completely renovated the place, I was the guy that posted in 07 about the old Colt pocket pistol in 32 ACP we found in the attic.

words for the wise, if you ever get a really old ass house that is sound, but needs insulation, get teh expanding foam, its faster, and will make the house nearly soundproof with the high R value type, and keep the temperatures stable as fuck. also spray the inner walls if you can afford it. you wont hear people yelling and "body noises" from ajoining rooms. the roof is extra recommended, as is the first floor over basement areas. just have your HVAC put in by a good crew first.

shout out to all my HVAC boys. you fuckers made that house livable in deep winter and high summer.

Just picked up a VLTOR EMOD stock from a friendly fellow that I'm guessing was Army. Said he used it in Afghanistan and it certainly shows the wear. I'll clean it up a bit and keep it as is because I got it for $50 so I can't complain. Also if the story is true, it's pretty cool IMO

I chose the TA33 specifically for the long eye relief and low magnification, it's not a compromise to be fixed, especially with a 12" barrel. What stock? Bravo combines the beard-safe cheek weld of a SOPMOD with the width and fit of a CTR. Can't think of an apt replacement.

So I'm having problems with my new 10.5" build. It won't extract the round about half the time (just stays in the chamber but it will fall out on its own) and if it does it will rarely eject it. Cycling by hand gives me no issues, and the extractor seems to grip the rim just fine if I slide the base of a case just fine. Loading a single round I can get the bolt to lock back both on my H2 and carbine weight buffers, so it seems gas system isn't an issue. I have a BCM bolt and I don't notice any burrs or obvious flaws in the extractor claw. The ejector tension seems to feel about the same as on my surplus Colt BCG on my M16A1 clone. My extractor spring looks a little funny but I don't know if there is a new kind since the M16A1 and its white extractor insert versus my black extractor insert.

I'm guessing the extractor spring is bad and I will test my colt BCG in my new build tomorrow, and if that fixes it I guess I will then try the same bolt but swapping extractors. Is there anything else I missed or should check out before or during my next range trip?

If it's for OAL reasons it needs to be pinned and welded. If not, black, or better red, loctite works. There's no reason to have a permanently attached brake if not for OAL though.

I got a q-tip with mobile 1 and lubed all around the gas key and the cam pin as well as inside the BCG and on the bolt contact surfaces, so it wasn't soaking wet but it seemed more than adequate and had could see the excess leaching out between the upper and lower after a few days. I just picked up a DD m4v11 today and I'm looking for an inexpensive set of rail covers that will fit on the keymod rail. It aggravates my autism not having a nice rounded grip and the handguard is 4-position instead of an octagon. Anybody know a good set I could get that would extend a little to form a nice, rounded grip even when it's only on 3 sides?

The Noveske NSR ones look like what I'm after but I keep seeing reviews that say they don't fit right on anything but their NSR handguard. Anyone know of similar alternative options that will fit?

I have the aero precision 10.5" barrel. I measured the gas port size and it comes out to 0.080". It's a shame that no one seems to make something to what the exact Mk18 barrel specs are.

I also just found out that the o ring that come with my BCM BCG was an optional add-on for my extractor spring. Conveniently my wife threw it away since it came in the same bag as the BCG and looked empty. I'm pretty sure that will fix my problem.

0.08 is DD specs and it's overgassed. You might need a H3, or get A5 buffer. The most permanent solution is an adjustable gb. I recommend SLR or Govnah. Correct gas for 10.5 should be 0.073 if shooting 5.56 and using H2 or H3 I think.

Interested in buying AR in the future. Was wondering if ones fully equipped on gunbroker for around $680 are a shit or a deal.

I have a hunting rifle (lever action) and shotgun (pump action) and a G43 for cc but I'd like a semi-auto rifle (and a full size handgun with min 12+ ammo capacity but I'll ask about that in another thread; I'm trying to be better equipped for when shtf and have more fun at the range). Just got a new job, and election date is approaching soon, but I think I have enough time to save up and buy an AR for about $500-$700 or so.

Also, if I want to shoot 5.56, the AR should be chambered for 5.56? Right? Google says I can shoot 5.56 through chamber meant for .223 but that I may regret it. I'm guessing it would matter less the higher I go in quality/price? Emphasis on guessing.

Also, why do a lot of people seem to prefer building them? Does it save money? Avoid registration? Is it because they want a high quality one but have to buy it piece by piece bc that's the only way to afford one?
