Ive never fired subsonic 9mm, only sub sonic 22lr.
So the 22 could cycle the 10/22 i was firing them out of. Can 9mm cycle something like a hi power? Or a cz?
Would this be viable for HD to avoid

Should cycle just fine as long as your pistol isn't a saiga

subsonic 9mm will be quieter than standard ammo but its still going to be loud as fuck and damage your hearing unless youve got a suppressor

But would it be less damaging? Like i said ive never fired it, just the 22s which were near silent so i didnt know how loud the 9mm would be

Less damaging in the sense that cutting your arm off with a bonesaw is less damaging than doing it with a rusty knife, but still pretty damaging. Just get some electronic earmuffs.

I haven't fired it inside a house, but I'm not sure you'd even hear a difference indoors without ear protection. Outdoors I guess it sounds different, but again I wear ear protection. Through a suppressor the difference is extremely noticeable, of course.
It's a heavier bullet (147+ grains instead of 115-124 of a normal 9mm). That might also affect your selection criteria.

hearing damage is hearing damage
subsonic does not mean quiet
it simply means the bullets dont break the sound barrier
most 45 acp is subsonic but you still want earpro shooting it
>Can 9mm cycle something like a hi power? Or a cz?
Ya, dont see why not. Oddly enough, 9mm perfecta is also sub sonic at 90F sea level.
>Would this be viable for HD
I guess but if your life is on the line I'd use not a pistol and not really worry about hearing damage, just concentrate on not being dead.

I use the 9K (147grs HP sub) and the 9C (115grs HP) out of an 6" STI Target Champion with not a single cycling problem. 20k rounds fired so far.
The subsonic is a bit more quiet and has less recoil. But I wouldn't recommend using it without earpro.

If it was me, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
I've shot pistols indoors without earpro, and I put about 120 rounds through an M4 outdoors without it too.
Had a physical about 6 months ago, and I still had great hearing.
There wasn't a noise the machine could make that I couldn't hear.
Then I see some people on /k/ say thy got tinnitus from firing 1 round outdoors without earpro, and I wonder if they're trolling,
or if I'm just an outlier.
>>31378233
You're an outlier. Gunfire outdoors is already past the OSHA threshold for instantaneous hearing damage. Indoors is even worse.
t. tinnitus that lasted three weeks from a single 7.62x39 outdoors
>>31378376
Geez at the very least somebody needs to wear earbuds, even if just to listen to music while shooting.

what if you kill someone in a HD situation, while you have stuff on your gun
such as a suppressor, or a red dot, and then you take that shit off of your gun after you shot someone, so as to avoid the police confiscating your accessories to your gun as well
would you be in trouble if they found out?

Permenant hearing damage from a .308 getting touched off with the muzzle even with my ear and about a foot away.
>dont offer to be your buddies bipod, no matter how perfect the shot is
