They're just difficult (no criminal history at all, written and practical tests, mental/physical standards) and time consuming (has to pass through a nation wide police background check 6+ months) but honestly, I really don't think owning a gun is a great idea if you've had a history and are still suffering from depression. goodluck though anon, hope you feel better about life soon!
