so I was looking into getting a moist nugget pretty recently because all I have heard is "ohhhh they are so cheap anon, you should get one" but everywhere I Iook they are over $250. what the hell /k/omrades? where can I find the cheapest nuggets possible?
>>
>>31363079
Mosins are not worth the price anymore. Like 3 years ago there were. I got 5 of them for 90$ each. You would be lucky to get one for 180$ now before shipping
>>
>>31363079
in the ground in ukraine
>>
>>31363079
Nigga they were all cheap like ten years ago. Now if you find one in a shop it'll be near the price of a superior Mauser and you may as well get a Mauser which is superior
>>
>>31363195
Yeah but is the Mauser a superior rifle?
>>
>>31363204
Any other rifle used by a major power in WWII is going to be superior with the exception of late war Japanese rifles.
>>
any cheap plinking rifles that you guys know of? I may save up for an enfield

>>31363226
Yeah, .22s.
>>
>>31363079
They aren't cheap anymore, I got mine 4ish years ago on black Friday for $150, your lucky now to get it $200-$230
>>
>>31363079
Mosins are no longer much cheaper than an entry level commercial bolt gun, and Mosin ammo is no longer any cheaper than steel cased .308.

Just get a Savage XP. If you wait for a sale, you'll pay less that $50 more than the going price for a good shooter Mosin, and you'll have a much nicer rifle.
>>
>>31363226
.308 enfield
>>
>>31363226
303 British is expensive, my roommate has one and complained about the price recently.
>>
>>31363247
If you don't care about history or aesthetics this is a good option
>>
>>31363233
I have a 10/22 but the ammo get apocalyptically rare whenever democrats do democrat things
>>
>>31363281
5.56 is what I'd recommend for plinking. 9mm gets second place.
>>
Nuggets costing 200ish bucks is hardly the issue. People spend more on guns that are built like shit (like IO guns, or really, really cheap ARs, or those shitty cheap 22lr guns)

It's the surplus ammo dying that kills owning a nugget now. The price of feeding it has pretty much doubled since 4-5 years ago. It has met the end like all other surplus guns that were once cheap to feed before it (.303, 8mm, 9x18, 7.62x25, etc)
>>
>>31363281
Walked into Academy a couple of weeks ago and they had 20-25 of the 525 round boxes of Remington Golden Bullet .22lr sitting in the display case. Also a decent pile of various CCI's and some brands I wasn't familiar with. Grabbed a 525 round box for $29. Not dirt cheap but at least it exists.
>>
>>31363513
people have cut back on the obsessive hoarding of .22 thankfully, but I can guarantee that if Hillary gets elected people will start buying it more aggressively then before
>>
>>31363079
Mosins aren't for cheap blasting. Get a 22, a HI Point, or an AR. Leave milsurp to the collectors.
>>
>>31363079
Milsurp runs out, you missed the boat on the last cheap milsurp rifle.
Now the market's probably settled on what nuggets are actually worth, upper 100's to 250+.

I reckon there must still be uncounted billions of rounds sitting in mother russia and china. I wonder if these countries just are no longer selling it?
>>
>>31365023
i didn't really miss the boat as much as I recently turned 19 and they were this expensive when I turned 18. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next cheap decent gun
>>
>>31363489
That's inevitable. After a gun and its food falls out of service, they will eventually dry up and then be replaced with something new. It's the circle of life.

The part that fucking pisses me off to no end is that we're nearing the end of the last generation of milsurp rifles. The WWII stuff is coming to an end. Almost all rifles that are select fire, meaning that we're never going to get our hands on them. In a few years, milsurp will be exclusively collectors' items; they will not be the cheap option for the everyman. With the parting of the Mosins, we are witnessing the death throes of an era.
>>
>>31365073
>I guess I'll just have to wait for the next cheap decent gun
There won't be one, mosins were it if you wanted sub cheap bang bang gun with cheap 20-25c/r ammo.
If you want to shoot a full rifle cartridge now, ~50c/r is what you're stuck with paying now, surplus or not pretty much.
>>
>>31363079
Nigga like 5 years ago. Bought mine at big 5 with my best friend cause it was a 2 for $100. Now I'll be lucky if I find one at my lgs for less than 300

That being said if you want a good nugget try looking for a Finnish m39. Bought one last year and I love the damn thing. The Finns know how to improve on shit.

Last I saw some m39s are about 350-400
>>
>>31363079

Cheap surplus is over. Nuggets are 200 or more, surplus 54r is just about as expensive as new production. You missed the meme train by like 8 or 9 years.

The best bang for your buck now is AR-15 platform rifles. We have left the age of cheap surplus and have entered the age of cheap, new production rifles.

The Mosin is NOT worth 200 dollars. It's entire mythos is built on a time where they could be had for less than a 100 all day any day and surplus 54r was really cheap. They were a "no excuses, buy a gun" sort of gun. If you are a turbo poorfag then new production shotguns can be had for around 200 or less.

learn a lot about guns and start going to physical gun auctions, otherwise i'll see you at the other end of eternity
>>
>>31365139
I'm not super poor, but I'm a college student making $13.75 an hour. so for now I'm sticking to my 1911 and I already have a lower receiver so I guess i'll just build that until I make enough to start collecting some decent stuff
>>
>>31363079
Mosins suck.

>>31363204
Mausers suck too. Enfield is superior to both.

But instead of buying Milsurp, you should get a modern bolt gun in .30-06 or .308.

>>
Armslist, and pawn shops.

I found a 91/30 hex for 150. They sporterized it but I found some stock parts pretty cheap. Got out for less than 200.
>>
last week i bout a 1932 turkish mauser for cheaper than what nuggets are going for around here
>>
>>31365195
>carcano
>mas36
Both are decent rifles, what's wrong with them?
>>
>>31368989
Nothing, he just has little/no experience and is parroting fuddlore.
>>
>>31367937
depends on condition. Honestly anything other than a 91/30 would be ok (but not great) under 300. M44s are still occasionally available in the primary market for 250ish though.

The prices of the carbines have only gone up slightly compared to 91/30s of a few years ago, since they dried up and their prices went up a bit before 91/30s did.

They're selling a nugget for $100 otd at the Cabelas near me...
It's literally caked over with cosmoline in every crack & crevice in the worst way possible. I've seen "bad" looking cosmoline soaked mosins before, but not like this.
Like someone put too much jelly on toast AND didn't even attempt to spread it.

At this point I don't think I can be bothered to buy it and clean em up like I used to.
>>
>>31369243
what kind of sissy faggot complains about well preserved nuggets? Do you even squat?
>>
>>31363079
You should just get a Mauser or a K31/11.
>>
>>31369394
Absolutely sick of cleaning them
I went through my slavboo phase and now i just want to sit back, relax, and shoot some mausers that aren't marinated in gun jelly.
>>
>>31369243
All you have to do is wash it off in mineral spirits and then leave it out in the sun... It's not that hard.
>>
>>31369423
>Just spend $650 on your first gun
>>
>>31369423
>just buy these rifles with even harder to find and more expensive ammo
>>
>>31369532
You can get them for much cheaper than that. It's the ammo that will kill the appeal of it, since both 8mm and 7.5 are at least double the price of nugget food currently. Occasionally gp11 will be like 50 cpr though.

hex receiver and matching serials though so idunno how to feel
>>
>>31369584
Hex and serials doesn't mean a thing, and only become a thing for stores to offer as hand pick options to rip "casual collectors" off.

I guess they still have value to those who believe in such things, but generally most people will laugh their ass off if anything tries to ask more than a 5% premium over any run of the mill nugget.

so yeah, you got ripped off.

Only Mauser I've ever paid more than $300 for was my Gew.98.

>>31369629
>serials doesn't mean a thing
?
>>
>>31369747
matching serials do not give a premium price to run of the mill 91/30. They only have a premium when the store decides to do a hand select for it, and when people keep passing on that belief. Yes, it's better to have, but it did no affect pricing until stores got jewish and changed for them, which made people think that suddenly match serials means more money.
>>
I paid 85 out the door for mine 6 years ago. I've seen the prices just go up since then. I wouldn't pay 250 for a Nagant. No way in heck.
>>
>>31363489
I am still working on my original 880 rd pack. I don't really get how you could go through ammo so fast, its a nugget not a 10/22 or an uzi. When I want to shoot more accurately I use modern production shit anyway. So its only a few stripper clips of surplus a shooting session.
>>
>>31369629
yeah probably
i haven't been able to find one in stores though and i've wanted one for a while

They'll be at $500 each by 2026

But isn't the mauser ammo a lot harder to find than the 7.62x54R?
>>
>>31370712
Yes
>>
>>31370712
not really

most stores that have 54r will also have 8mm, both probably in target or hunting form. Only a few LGSs will have cheap surplus or steel case 54r (that aren't that cheap anymore). That has been my experience at least.

54r might be more available online, but that doesn't mean 8mm is impossible to order. It's plenty available as well, but again, mostly in the more expensive new brass production, with the occasional sort of cheap shitty surplus.

The only thing that really matters is that 54r is still cheaper.
>>
>>31369532
I got my K31 for 300, and Classic has Yugo Mausers up for around that same price. Also you can get surplus 7.5 Swiss GP11 ammo for basically the same price as .308/7.62x54r.
>>
>>31371120
