I just recently purchased a Gen 4 Glock 20 Full Frame and I was wondering what upgrades I should get for it? Also, Glock General Thread and my first thread ever.

Get a good set of sights, that's really all you 'need' to put on a brand new Glock. And for future reference, a general is not needed for a one off question.
>>
>>31361609
Sweet, I was thinking about a 2 ported barrel from Lone Wolf as well? I put about 750 rounds through it so far and have some decent groupings with factory sig ammunition. Also the trigger pull feels quite stiff from what I am used to, is there any backing to buying a 3.5lb pull drop in system?
>>

>Also the trigger pull feels quite stiff from what I am used to

I've always been told that Glocks have shitty triggers, then I got one, took it to the range, and thought, "This is what people have been bitching about?"
>>
>>31361626
Do you have a certain brand of night sights you recommend or a certain type? I was looking at these:https://www.amazon.com/Snake-Eyes-Sights-Glocks-T1372/dp/B00CI29KAE?th=1
>>
>>31361626
they seem stiff because they have very little travel, even if they break at the same weight as others. for example, a sig p226 and a glock both have ~4.5# triggers, but the sig's single action comes on gradually, so only at the very last millimeter do you feel the full 4.5#s. whereas with a glock, once you depress the trigger enough to engage the safety you're immediately feeling the 4.5#s to move it any further.

but the glock trigger reset is gold. very crisp and very short.

Like others have said, get some good sights. trijicon hd's are pretty slick in my experience - get the red ones rather than the green though.

some people like putting grip tape/talon grips on the glock. these are good if you find the polymer gets slippery.

>2 ported barrel from Lone Wolf

Don't know too much about ported barrels so I can't suggest whether or not you should get one. You can get a 3.5lb connector, it's a very common way to clean up the trigger pull on Glocks. I'm sure you can pick up a 3.5 Ghost connector for rougly $30 and drop it in.

But the number one upgrade you can do to a Glock is replacing the sights. A good set of sights will help you shoot better than any other modification to a gun.

Look into Trijicon HD's for night sights and Dawson Precision for fiber optics. Also check out Ameriglo.

Yeah, it's really not that bad. I've shot multiple Glock 17's and 19's with no real issue but it can be better imho. Like most things on the internet, people overexaggerate on things just to put more emphasis on it.

Are there any other options for a slide release? I havent found anything that looks any easier to depress than the one that came stock on my G20

Tangodown Vickers slide release is fucking sex. Same size and shape as the stock so you don't accidentally hit it, but angled out far enough that you can lock open or drop the slide without much fuss even when shooting left handed.

That plus the Tangodown Vickers mag release are the two non-sight upgrades I like the most on my 19.
>>
>>31361651
>>31361655
I was scrolling through Tangodown's slide stops and it seems like they're compatible for everything but the G20.

Super Gay. I'm finding more and more that the Glock 20 has the least amount of after market parts.
>>
>>31361660
Vickers says he installed one in his personal G20 with no issues, and that's just the generic compatibility chart that Glock put out.

Grip Force Adapters are great at preventing slidebite and giving a little extra material inside your palm if you have big hands.

Should I get Glock 40 or Glock 20? I just got a 34 and I don't want to buy a bunch
>>
>>31361679
What are you gonna be using it for? I got my 20 for Dindu break ins and Bears while camping.

>using the slide release lever

i'd advise you to practice using your fingers to pull the slide back. good to build up that muscle memory since this technique works on any gun. nothing wrong with having a more accessible release lever if you need to use the gun one handed, but imo it's better practice to go without.

the lever is best used for engaging the slide stop. that's one reason i like the p30, because it has that big fat slide lever so you can lock it back really easily, yet it never seems to get in the way like cz levers (also no safety on the p30).
>>
>>31361695
Using the lever is a lot faster than racking the slide, and even Glock says that it's an acceptable way to load the gun.

There's also no risk of riding the slide and leaving it out of battery if you use the lever.

Different strokes I guess.

i'd contend that you spend the same amount of time using your support hand, which is already off of the gun, to quickly rack the slide back is just as fast, if not faster, than adjusting your strong hand grip to flick the slide release lever. not only that, but it requires less conscious thought - especially when you already practice the exact same racking motion in tap/rack/bang drills and double feed clearing drills.

then, the advantage of the hk series is that, should you have to use it, the slide release lever is large enough and in an ergonomic position to facilitate effective untrained use. whereas with the glock, i find myself searching for that little nipple of a release lever even in the case of an enlarged aftermarket part. and if you're wearing gloves you can forget about it, it's just too small.

>>31361684
No idea but I don't go to bear country I figure I can get a 20 and put a larger barrel from lone wolf in there
>>
>>31361599
What the fuck does full frame mean?
>>
>>31361989
probably that it's a "not longslide" gun

more mags and ammo than you'll feasibly need to make up for the drought during panic season.
>>
>>31362038
10mm is pretty panic proof.

not slim frame, the original 2x4 grip

They make a 20SF and a 20. I have the non shaved down 20.
>>
>>31362054
all gen 4 guns are by default short frame (SF) sized. You get the grip scales to bump it up to the size of the gen 3. lrn2Glawk.

Is the Glock 17 a good SHTF pistol?
Only plan on getting one handgun, and I can't find 10mm ammo reliably in my country. The major selling point for me is the option to change parts myself, gunmakers charge a premium around here. Money is not an issue.
>>
>>31362445
Also I may add I'm looking for a gun that has a high cap standard magazine, which the G17 definitely has (17+1)
>>
>>31362445
Yes. Also, you can get a 33 round mag for it. G17 is definitely easy to work on and highly customize-able.
>>
>>31361660
If it fits the G21, it'll fit the 20, the large frame Glocks have a lot of interchangeable parts. In fact, if you have a G21 complete slide of the same Gen, you can put it on a G20 frame and it will work. Need G21 mags though.
>>
>>31361599
The OEM extended slide release isn't too bad. But the stock sights need to be replaced, they're not bad, but there's much better options. .
>>
>night sights
>talon grips
>ghost trigger connector
>XC1 and a good holster if you're going to carry
>>
>>31361599

What does everyone think of a glock 22 for a first gun? I hear I can swap the barrel out for 9mm and then use whichever is convenient. I am 6'3'' and it seems to be about the right size for me if I want to be able to also carry it concealed without much trouble.
