Sometimes I'd take foam coolers, paint faces on them, and have plastic bottles full of red dye in them. I'd listen to death sounds effects while doing it too.

I was a fucked up kid.

I had a spring powered pump-action shotgun that shot yellow plastic BB's.

I had a realistic looking bolt action rifle with a working bolt and a gold painted wooden bullet on it.

I had disc guns and a realistic looking black squirt-Tommy gun.

If I ran around town with my toys like I did then, I'd probably get shot by the cops.

I still have my old red ryder

I had a lever action popgun that was full on metal and wood and pretty hefty when I was a kid. Looked just like a henry lever action rifle too. I wish I knew what happened to it.

Toy guns until I was about 10, and my parents bought me a Tippmann 98 Custom paintball gun. Army men (who were Marines because my dad was one), cap guns and those awesome cap dive bombs. I think I also had a cap grenade when my friends and I would play army.

After my paintball gun, I got another one a little later down the road and then I started to get more interested in military and military simulation so I transitioned into airsoft guns.

I had a basic M4, then I bought an M16 and finally a Colt XM607. By the time I "grew out" of airsoft I was 18 so I started buying real guns.

Admittedly I still have a hankering to go and play airsoft but I don't live in California anymore and my guns are at my parents house. The airsoft group I was a part of on facebook has likely disbanded because it was full of tryhards, rich kids, mall ninjas (like green mountain rangers) and Jews who were any combination of the above.

Now that I have the tools and skills, I would like to build airsoft guns and really just make some super cool and well performing guns but I would rather buy ammo instead

It's easy.

Get two pipes, diameter of the first pipe must be size of the bullet, but not the casing. this is your barrel.

a second pip to slide over the first, this acts as your chamber.

use an epoxy puddy or something to glue your barrel inside your chamber.

seat a cartridge, if you did it right the cartridge won't be able to move any.

tape it to your bb gun

BB hits centerfire primer
cartridge goes boom.

I had an airsoft 93R as a kid, didn't realise it was such a rare gun as a result. Kinda wish I'd looked after it better, even if just because it looks neat. It's beat to shit now, with a few parts missing.

Oh, and I had a "Rambo" sawn-off double barrel that I used to take everywhere with me when I was 2-3 years old.

Ended up breaking it and having to get it replaced because I saw somebody flick one shut on TV, did that and the barrels flew off.

Those were the personal highlights, I had a huge chest of toy guns though. Wouldn't leave the house without my policeman's hat and a gun.

When I was around 7 or 8 my drunken old grandpa gave me an old German Diana Model 22 air rifle from the 30s that he bought.
It was especially made for kids my age, and grandpa had bought it for next to nothing and gotten it back in working order for me.

I spent the next few years going through a tin of pellets a week just sniping acorns and pine cones around the farm and innawoods.

Saved up my money for years getting better air rifles until I got old enough to buy proper firearms.

I still have that little pellet rifle, it means a lot to me.

I know that feel of missing airsoft though, it was a ton of fun but with me and my friends looking for work after school I have no one to play with and real guns and ammo soak up my money. If I had the cash and a group I would definitely pick it back up on the side though.

Had a pretty nice Beretta 92fs looking BB gun. Got in trouble for taking it to school once, kek.

Also I was making homemade bows and crossbows with pipes and shit when I was like 10, it was loads of fun.

Despite all the hate it gets airsoft is very fun, the adrenaline of shooting people and being shoot at is pretty addictive, you can't quite compare it to shooting guns at targets or animals. Just stay away from the fucks who think they're some sort of supreme operator for shooting plastic pellets at others.
