Loading BP straight wall cartridges is a please all its own. The holy black and brass out of a sharps (with a 535gr lead spire point) is reasonably accurate out to 600yrds, as long as you don't mind one hell of an arc.

The rugers are hilarious guns. The no.1 and the often overlooked old No.3s can be loaded to pressures that make my marlin look like a pile.

Specifically, my Hodgens manual says I should no exceed 28k PSI in my marlin (or a win 1886), whereas the Rugers can go up to 40k.

Which is just fucking scary.

I've been working with 14.3 grains of Unique and a 405gr cast bullet, though I want to try out some of those poly coated ones. When I open my ammo boxes I want them to look like crayons.

I've had pretty good groups at the 100 yards I typically shoot at, and it doesn't strain the shoulder too much, what with the curved steel buttplate on the sharps.
