10/10 French DLPT study material, thanks anon.

Had I been in the reporter's position I would have taken the rifle, yet the refusal to undoubtedly saved his life.

its always them.
>>
>>31349893

Capitan. It's old Capitan.

If they did more shooting instead of talking on the radio maybe they'd wouldn't have gotten btfo.
>>
>>31349893
Do they not have any ammo or something? Why the fuck are they just lying down in the field?
>>
The army seemed too frightened to do anything meaningful. They call in helo support, and released potshots but that was it. Was weird watching how personal the video was, then have the group he was with get killed
>>
>>31350003
surrounded.
Helico was attacked as well.
Farcs said that they killed 17 of them.
Funny to watch this just after narcos.
>>
>>31349893
speaking of the French. Anyone have any info of that paratrooper unit in Afghan that took heavy casualties?

They had like 5 mags each and were ambushed and took a bunch of wounded and dead.

Anyone remember the battle name or units?

Any lessons learnd from that in french mil culture? Seemed to have been better supplied in mali.

I guess that's a third world military for you.

Families in France sued the army.
Theres an investigation lead by an independant judge and this is very interesting since it will be the 1st time that this kind of investigation happens.
The army is mad about that cauz it may compromise their operability etc (sorry for bad translation).

Jesus. Latin armies are so ill trained that it makes USA look disciplined.

Lack of manpower due to budget cuts. The military can't do things on an appropriate scale because they simply don't have the resources to do so. Hopefully Cold War 2.0 changes this but I doubt it.
>>
>>31350421
Meanwhile they still operate a carrier, still waste money on useless jets, etc
Theres no lack of money.

Then maybe the leadership shouldn't be sending goddamn outmanned light units to assault enemy dug in mountain infantry. Is this the famous French arrogance at work, or what?
>>
>>31350455
Read the article. Way more failures existed than the manpower issue I brought up. It's not French arrogance, if anything it's gullibility and it effects all western nations. Muslims are not and never will be our ally. Some people need to be burned before they use oven mittens.

I'm reading all the cover ups, the colonel of the unit threatening critical commentators with litigation and to me it's quite clearly the typical French arrogance at work here.
I mean, holy fucking shit:
>The mission was a success. Pace some armchair tacticians who cast judgement from 7000 kilometres away, in the comfort of their house, I take note that the enemy was forced to flee and that he took quite a beating

Politicians like showing off their fancy jets. It's why no one in the american congress gave a shit when the marines got an overpriced WW2 jeep-knockoff shoveled to them, but thinks dropping more money on the F35 is a good idea.
>>
>>31350502
yea well this colonel will be in deep shit if the investigation is going to be validate.
Would be the 1st time that a criminal court will judge a military operation.

>>

Does the dog die?
>>
It's pretty obvious that they died because they were more content to talk on their radios than kill the people shooting at them. They weren't going to win by lying prone in the middle of a field.
>>
>>31351200
Obvious though this is, I wonder how much of this falls on training. certainly makes me think of the video Lloyd did on shooting to kill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zViyZGmBhvs
>>
>>31351241
>I wonder how much of this falls on training.
I think that has a lot to do with it, and maybe cultural differences. I know from my experience in the Army we had to do absolutely everything possible to keep our men from death blossoming as soon as we received any sort of fire, and even when my guys did it was comforting to know my guys would fuck up everything around us instead of cowering and hiding behind their radios.

When I was in the Philippines, the Phil marines did a patrol. They walked the same route they always did. Third year in a row they were ambushed in the same exact spot and lost 28 guys.

Then we got a truck full of body parts and a video. Third worlders are shit at war.
>>
>>31350644

That's not an EOTech, it's a Meprolight M-21. Sight is fine.

The Colombian Army has close ties with the Israeli defense industry
