It would be a fun project. The jig set, frame and parts kit is like $950 but it says the jig can be used for 1911's too.

if you snipe on copes distributing, you can get an un-refinished parts kit for 130. thats what I did. the night sights are super dim, but the kits were complete (actually mine had an extra trigger pin).

hands down this is the easiest jig I have ever used. literally did this while eating dinner and watching youtube. takes a couple hours if you are fucking around.

i'm a lazy fuck- so probably some spray on finish. I was thinking either dura-blue or dura-park. I don't have a hood or a spray gun, so i'm stuck with ghetto options. I could send it out - but realistically I know I won't. I spent last night forming it to a surplus m11 holster I got for 10 bucks and it fits pretty well (despite the holsters not being designed for railed versions). I also ordered a new set of proper grips.

tracking down a bunch of older style mags. CDNN had them on sale for like 14 each for factory original 13 rounders, so i'll probably run those till i figure out which mec-gars run in it.
