Fudd lore my dad told me as a kid:
>You can fire .308 out of an AK (probably mistaking 7.62x39 for 7.62 NATO)
>Revolvers are more reliable
>.223(he literally did not know the difference between .223 and 5.56) is made to tumble past a certain range and that is what it was designed for
>Semi auto is unnecessary and encourages bad marksmanship
>6 shots is all you need
>I wouldn't get a semi auto because they're unreliable, plus see above.
>revolvers never jam
>Called magazines clips
>Thought military rifles were always fired in full auto
>AKs are God's gift to militaries
>He literally equated fighting to deer hunting
>also said he wanted a ruger 10/22 for combat/shtf, when I asked him why not just get a cheap AR, he said "because .22 is lighter and almost silent"
>hunting with an AR would just blow the animal in half
>hunts with a Rem700 in 7mm Rem Mag
>That's not how any of this works
>>31346446
My dad used to talk so much about rem 7mm, he thought it was god's gift to snipers/hunters
My dad flips open and shut his smith and Wesson k22 and k38 masterpieces. I love him, but when that fucker dies those guns will be treated as gods compared to that fudd.
when i was looking into my first AR the guy at the LGS recommended a chiappa m4-22 cause "a 22 long rifle is almost the same grain bullet as a 5.56 the power aint no different"

>Revolvers are more reliable
>revolvers never jam
>I wouldn't get a semi auto because they're unreliable, plus see above.
But there is some truth to that. Yes, revolvers CAN jam, but it is very rare. I have never seen it in person. I have, on the other, had plenty of autoloaders jam on me.
>6 shots is all you need
Most of the time, it is.
>Semi auto is unnecessary and encourages bad marksmanship
For some people, it does. It's all about state of mind.

They are made of steel, not glass. They are not going to break.
>>31347633
>They are made of steel, not glass. They are not going to break.
lel that's the easiest way for your gun to go out of time.
>>31347633
cowboy flipping the cylinder can damage the cylinder stop and can bend the crane, yes theyre steal but steal bends still
>>31347633
i agree with you but flipping the cylinder can cause damage, and probably will if you do it a lot. i've done it a couple times for fun, but it's usually better to be on the safe side.
>>31347695
steel
>>31347633
Are you retarded or some thing? Flipping it shut actually damages that lil pin.
>the russians made all their bullets 1mm shorter than NATO so they wouldn't work in our guns
or vice versa
>>31346378
>You can fire .308 out of an AK (probably mistaking 7.62x39 for 7.62 NATO)
well, you can
my dad believes his glock 23 is the best pistol ever created
>>31348020
Probably is.
>>31347658
I have done it many times and never had timing problems.
>>31347695
>>31347734
>>31347908
Maybe if the Incredible Hulk flipped it. The force of a normal person flipping it is not going to hurt it. Trust me. I've done it many, many times. Nothing happens. The idea that something will happen is itself fuddlore.
>>31347972
probably stems from their 82mm mortars being able to fire US 81mm mortars. you wont have any accuracy, but it's possible
>>31348480
I thought was we have the 50 bmg (12.7x 99mm) they have the 51 (12.7x108mm) we 9mm para (9x19mm) they have 9mm makarov (9x18mm) and so on and so forth.
>>31348565
they also have many similar artillery calibers
122mm
152mm
even their 76.2mm gun was the same bore diameter as the US 76mm gun, 3 inch AT gun, and 75mm gun, but none of those were interchangeable due to case dimensions
A lot of their adopted calibers were either due to them buying certain weapons from other countries, or thier attempt at domestic production of contemporary calibers. There wasn't any clandestine reason for it.
The mortar thing is just a silly coincidence, and it's hardly useful. However, using similar NATO cartridges in soviet cannons and small arms would be a really bad idea.
>also said he wanted a ruger 10/22 for combat/shtf, when I asked him why not just get a cheap AR, he said "because .22 is lighter and almost silent"
He's right you know. The projectile is the same diameter
>>31349963
While it is almost the same diameter, it's the bullet weight and the amount of propellant that makes it more effective. The 5.56 projectile can reach out to 1000 meters in the right hands.
>>31350098
>the right hands
yeah, but who really wants to carry a .223 for 850 meters and then shoot?
just get a .30-06, son
>>31346378
>You can use .30-06 in German Mausers because the Germans designed their rifles to be able to use ammo off of dead GIs.
I argued with the guy for twenty minutes and made no headway.
>>31351584
>7,92x57
>7,62x63
>>31351615
He still didn't believe me, even when I tried to load a .30-06 casing into my K98. Or when I explained that the 8mm was designed before .30-06, so his is a moot point anyway.
I swear to god, drunk fudds that learn from other drunk funds are the worst thing for the gun community.
>>31346378
Not so much fuddlore but right after the dude in Dallas killed cops with a Saiga, I got into it with some retard on Twitter who insisted that the AK74 is chambered in 5.56 instead of 5.45. I asked him to give a source, he never did, I showed him the AK101, which actually is 5.56, still nothing. He said I knew nothing about guns so I posted a picture I took at the range that day.

It can be amusing at times.
