When 308 is
>more available
>just as powerful
>cheaper
>more compact
>more accurate
>can use metric NATO rounds in 308 chambered rifles
When will fudds and their kids let this old hag of a cartridge die?
>>31329713
Why do you care you autistic faggot
Better case capacity due to long action when hand loading. Also, resistant to runs on ammo.
But you already knew this when you started the thread.

Fuddy ought sex stronk
It's retarded, but I really don't care. If their traditionalism keeps the round popular and thus keeps my Garand fed, all the better.
modern loads of 30-06 are better than .308 win.
not everyone is shooting M2 Garand Ball loads.
>more available
Depends on the store
>just as powerful
If you're only shooting 50s vintage ball rounds. i'll take some buffalo bore 30-06 over anything, anyday.
>cheaper
Depends on the round
>more compact
doesn't matter in the rifles you'll be using it with. you'll only be carrying less than 20 rounds anyway.
>more accurate
Depends on the type of bullet and gun
>can use metric NATO rounds in 308 chambered rifles
depends on the gun
Stop being autistic for once in your life, kid.

If they want more power they can get the 300 win mag. Instead, some people just buy the retarded half strength cartridge known as the 30-06.
>>31329792
>300 win mag
>$1.75 a round.
>>31329713
Why do people buy 7.62x54R, .303 British or 8mm Mauser when .308 exists?
Why do people buy anything but 9mm, .223 and .308?
>>31329792
I can get boring old .30-06 180gr sp from Hornady for $.90, roughly the same price as their .308 165gr sp.
(Not even sure how that works. Feels like I'm getting screwed on the .308 there.)
Hornady 180gr .300 Win Mag starts at $1.20, so 133% more. You're going to pay for that extra powder, so your point is moot.
>>31329713
>100-200fps faster
>factory loads up to 220 grains
Minor cost increase, minor performance increase. You'll never notice the differences in weight or length in a hunting rifle.
>>31329792
>I don't have any experience with buying, loading or shooting any of the cartridges that I'm talking about
Thanks for clearing this up.

>not geting that modern loads in 6.5mm are better than 308
>6.5mm carrys more energy at distance.
I hunt elk with my 30-06 because 220 he boolets. Faggots like op read on persons opinion and take it for truth. Stick to shooting and lurk more.
OP probably owns a 30-06 rifle and wanted people to justify his purchase for him.
>you all fell for it
.30-06 can be loaded to retarded power levels.
Not everyone shoots factory ammo.
>>31329792
>if they want more power than a .223 they can just buy a 30-06, instead they buy the retarded half strength cartridge known as the .308
OP is a fag.
>>31329792
300 win mag and 6.5 CM tend to eat up barrels faster.
Hence why people still buy .308 rifkes for slightly better barrel longevity.
>>31329789
>depends on the gun
No, any gun chambered in 308 will shoot 7.62 NATO safely. Every NATO gun except ishapore Enfields will shoot 308 as well
>>31329713
Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang ping
why let a round die? if it does the neat old funs that use it can no longer be fired. why would you want funs to not be fired?

They make great plinking ammo and lots of hard to find stuff so that's great. But that's where their utility stops since they spin a big wheel to decide how much powder to load into a lot of ammo for a given cartridge.
Picking outliers doesn't help your argument either
