We met once before at the Canada Day brunch in [REDACTED] a year ago, and I believe we share a lot of the same values. I write to you today to inquire about the legality of the RCMP declaring the 10/22 ruger magazines de facto prohibited, and also if you know about any plans that the Liberal Party has to take a tougher stance on gun control, and if you plan to oppose their efforts. We both know that crime in this country due to firearms is fairly low (0.45/100,000 are killed by guns in a violent or unintentional manner (excluding suicide) as of 2013) and that no law abiding citizen would risk seizure of their firearms and ammunition acquired in a legal manner.

Further gun restriction such as the 10/22 magazine ban that occurred this summer, no matter what reason the RCMP claim to have taken action for, would only serve to constrict the already tight laws that surround firearms. I enjoy shooting targets, I hunt, and I have taken my guns out into the woods to protect myself from wild animal attacks, should I ever need to. I make sure this is entirely done in a legal manner, and I feel that further action would cause only to restrict me, not criminals, as the Liberal Party puts forth in their party website (https://www.liberal.ca/realchange/guns/). Thank you for taking the time to read my email, Mr. Scheer. You have my vote, and I hope you will stand to defend the majority of Canada’s citizens against further restrictions for firearms.
