Im looking for a new pistol for a range gun and possible winter CC and hunting side arm. i want a full size pistol in any caliber really capable of killing a black bear (around 350-450 pounds is largish in my area) or the more likely coyote and bobcat attack.
was thinking of a beretta 96, 10mm 1911, or a sig or glock in 357 sig. Im not sure if im strong enough to hangle a 44 magnum reliably in a panic situation since ive never fired one.
anyone have any good recomendations?

This is such a strange question.
Winter carry, killing black bear, these things don't mix. I guess a snub 44???

Glock 29 or 20
>357 sig
You mean 9mm +p+?
Glock 20 with a Lone Wolf barrel with hard cast bullets. The accuracy with hard cast is shit with the stock barrel, some even say that you can't shoot it out of the stock barrel, but you can.
This also gives you the option to use 10mm, .40s&w, and .357 SIG. You can shoot .40 out of the stock barrel.

>357 Sig
It's like you want nerve damage

Winter CC AND hunting sidearm. I don't know about you, but the bears are still out when I start hunting.

Get a 10mm 1911, I'm currently looking at getting an RIA for my next range toy.

Mk.23 loaded with really nice .45 Super
But black bears are huge pussies and I promise you that you can scare them off by shouting and stomping your feet, brown bears and shit are the actually dangerous ones.

This. I thought my dad was fucking Herekles reborn because I watched him chase a bear out of our campsite when I was a little kid. In his underwear. With a flashlight.
Then I got a bit older and found out they were basically just big giant raccoons.
