Stealth considerations have dulled the A E S T H E T I C of modern jets.
If radar cross section/heat signature were no longer considerations for combat jet aircraft, what would they look like and how would they perform?

I'm going to a do a mini dump of sexy aircraft.
>>31326630
pretty much like old jets, but less shiny
>>31326639
Who else has a fetish for bare metal?
>>31326648
>>31326630
>have dulled the A E S T H E T I C of modern jets.
Fuck off.
>>31326630
Fuck off /fa
I guess it wasn't meant to be...
>>31326662
>>31326630
They'd still be pretty shit most likely.
Look at airliners, and how homogeneous they've become.
what is more aesthetic, props or jets?

>If radar cross section/heat signature were no longer considerations for combat jet aircraft, what would they look like and how would they perform?
Pretty similar to modern aircraft, including 5th gen.
Internal bays and the general shape aren't just for radar considerations. They're higher performance.

>THAT B-36
the coolest bomber of all-time
a goddamn monster
saw them together at the USAF museum... made the B-52 look like a toy
>>31326661
edgy. you sound like a cuck faggot.
>>31330425
>Cuck
We're neither /b/ nor /pol/, bud.
>>31330384
If only they used aluminum instead of magnesium and we could have a bunch of them instead of one or two expensive remaints.
>>31330452
No, we're a different board that also uses that word. Deal with it.
>>31330464
Why the hell do you have to be so vocal with it?
I like the aesthetics of newer planes too, but what's wrong with the old stuff?
So... when the next World War 2 sized conflict occurs, will we be able to mass produce all these fancy fucking jets like they did for Spitfires, 109's and P-51's?
Seems like we'd go bankrupt.
>>31326639
In-line cockpit 52's are sexy as hell IMO
>>31326685
I think it needs a few more engines.
>>31330575
we wouldn't end up doing it that way, since it'd be equally hard for any opponent to do that kind of manufacturing thing.
though we won't be having a ww2 style conflict likely ever, desu.
>>31330463
>magnesium
uh....
>>31330654
Oh yeah pesky American, war will be over by Christmas, hell even over by the weekend.
Silly American never learn.
>>31330654
I can't wait, the look on your face when they give you a paper jumpsuit and make you fight in the radiation.
>>31330727
ah yes, the modern world where explicit empires are often imperial in name only, where currency flows freely and where the cession of trade between large nations would cause mutual economic catastrophe is entirely fungible with the one before ww1/2
won't you be laughing when ww3 happens against nazi merkelland and we start mass-manufacturing P-51s because it turns out we literally never left the ww2 world.
>>31330744
shit eating grin: "haha he used a shit analogy, this is more like ww1 than 2"
>>31330661
Magnesium was used for the main fuselage, as supposedly aluminum was too weak or not available enough for the beast. This made them hard to maintain and keep for long periods.
And yes, the airframes burnt like a bitch.
best jet coming through

Shame they had the habit of bursting into flames and crashing into Canada.
