9x39
Tell me about this ruskie cartridge /k/
how is it so perfect?
>subsonic
>range and energy enough to be used for snipers
>armor piercing
vodka space magic?
also how is it compared to 300 blk
Nobody here knows any more than you can find off of the internet because nobody on /k/ has ever been in Russian special operations.

No idea OP, but wouldn't it being a subsonic round harm its use at range?
>>31319342
Extensive testing of this top-sekret ruskie round in the cutting-edge warsaw warfare simulator known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. gives me the authority to speak about this topic: It drops like a rock.
Idk, it is subsonic and heavy so it is probably alright for short/mid range in specific conditions. Good for use with suppressors. Can't be great for armor pen.

>>31319646
but how does it compare to 300 blk?
what expressly do you want to know?
>>31319815
how does it keep 400 meters range while being subsonic?
how is it VS 300 blackout?
>>31319836
Thats considered the maximum effective envelope of engagment
The ballistic drop on 9x39 at that distance is something like 220cm. Its more effective to about 200m/300m.
It should be considered better than .300 AAC I suppose? At least, when in the subsonic role. Its a heavier bullet with a higher BC, higher SD. But that doesn't necessarily make it better-its about what you are using it for.
It has excellent terminal ballistics as well.
>subsonic
>long range, accurate, armor piercing
Pick one
It's shit in DayZ SA that I can tell you.
How long is the 9mm projectile? Larger frontal area than 30 cal makes it seems like they should have just cut a longer throat and loaded out some really large weight 762x39... 300blk really needs larger case capacity and not limited by AR magazine length... Also powder choices kind of suck...

9x39 has about 150 more ft-lbf of energy according to wikipedia
>>31320027
>ft-lbf
found the engineer
>>31320018
36.32 to 43.18mm OAL
>>31320027
ftlbf dont really matter as much as you think.
Comblock version of 300 BLK
or rather, 300blk is a western version of 9x39.
Either way, they're both bullets fitted onto cartridges that were made for smaller bullets. and they're used best in suppressed weapons.

>300blk really needs larger case capacity and not limited by AR magazine length...
Nigger we have 308 Winchester and the whole point of 300blk is an AR15 round that is quiet when silenced. It serves its purpose just fine and being that it's subsonic, it doesn't need any more case capacity because it doesn't need to break 1000fps.

I would love to pull a couple of those and put them into an American S&W 40 casing, or 357 Sig and see where that got me.
>>31319342
>>range and energy enough to be used for snipers
It's maximum effective range is about 300 meters.
>>31319963
Subsonic ammunition is generally more accurate because it does not get destabilized by turbulence that occurs when a bullet exits supersonic flight
>>31321225
that's only ~330 yds, so maybe not 1000+ yds sniper
>>31321405
Easy to fix, just make the cartridge hypersonic! That way it destabilizes well out of range of whatever you're shooting at.
>>31321225
Russian vocabulary doesn't differentiate "sniper" from any other marksmen.

How is the bolt staying back on the gun on the left?
