All right /k/, I have a dilemma. I am U21, live in a crowded apartment and would like some kind of protection. I want to keep my Benelli Nova in the apartment loaded with bird shot. (I would like to use buckshot but living in such a crowded space I need something that wont go through walls) But first I need a way to lock it up. I am thinking either a safe under the bed or a small safe in the closet. the problem with these is that they are like at least $250, and I am a poor college fag. Could build something that is semi secure and easy to open? Any suggestions? It needs to be locked up so roommates and friends don't get into it.

StackOn makes safes you can get for about $120 plus shipping on Amazon. They also sell them for about that at my LGS. They're not super secure. Someone with some time and determination could probably rip it open with a crowbar.
BUT, if you're looking for a place to store your shit where your roomates and visitors won't touch it, it'll do the trick.

Also, what about getting a pistol caliber carbine and loading it with HP rounds if you're worried about over penetration?

Just get a sturdy case, cable it to your bed frame, and drill/rivet your bed frame so it can't be disassembled without drilling the rivets.

This, OP if you're worried about it use #4 buck. Birdshot is for birds. It's not lethal enough to be lethal and not safe enough to be nonlethal. It's inconsistent in a way that makes it the worst of both worlds.
