Regrets leaving the military?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Thread replies: 117

So I left the Canadian military. I was a junior officer in the infantry, but I came here (and elsewhere) and got redpilled as to the fact that I will never be fighting for anything resembling freedom. Ultimately, we all know that soldiers are just pawns

2 months later I feel deep regret. More than anything, being an infantry commander is what got my blood pumping. But there is nothing more cucked than getting paid ~$100 a day to go be a bullet sponge for someone else's phoney military conflict.

I'm still under 25, I can set up another career. Any words that might help my regret? Did I do the right thing?

I didn't do it because of anyone here specifically

Look at the Somme. It was a meat grinder to take pressure off Verdun

But its not like junior officers and ranks knew this. They were told to take the Somme.

When you're just a pawn, you don't know how you are being used. That was my problem

>>
>>31219345
I, too was an officer in my country's military. I realized that I would never see combat ever, not even as a bullet sponge for someone else's phoney military conflict. I would have loved the opportunity, but realistically there was no chance.

So I quit. I'm currently on my way to a masters in computer science. Sure I miss being an officer, the excercises, and blowing stuff up, but in the end I guess this is for the best. You have to make compromises in life, unfortunately.

So get a better education and a PhD in something you like.

Politicians pull strings. Military follows orders

Anyone short of a Lt. Col isn't pulling strings in how things get done in a conflict, let alone setting the warzone

> I was a junior officer in the infantry, but I came here (and elsewhere) and got redpilled

Fucking hell you're a moron that deserves your shit life
>>
>>31219345
Nah m8, you did the right thing

Here's what's important: You got the military training that makes you useful in the event of insurrection or war. Should Canada actually go to war and you agree with it, you'll have no trouble getting back into a similar position as you already had. There won't be a lot of people jumping up to volunteer, quite honestly.

And if there's an insurrection against the globalist agenda, your experience gives you the opportunity to undermine and destroy the elements that have fucked over your country and countrymen so much.

And excluding any war scenarios, you now have the chance to develop skills and get a job outside the military.
>>
>>31219538
See this OP? These are the people you don't listen to regarding a fucking career.
>>
>>31219521
idk for me its like im not fighting for freedom or whatever cause the war has. Its rather just a fight for the man next to me and the comfort of the chaos of a battlefield. Nothing feels more peaceful then a firefight. I just feel so empty outside of service. I'm looking at maybe trying to become a national park ranger. But idk everything feels so pointless
>>
>>31219345
>>31219425

You don't need to fight for "higher cause" nor "values", you don't need to know "the big picture" nor your place in it. Trying to find any of the above is a fool's errand.

It is perfectly fine to fight, kill, and lead others to do likewise simply because you want to and/or are paid to do so.

The military doesn't need philosophers, they need people who kill who they are told to kill and not go to prison in the interim peace.
>>

Never said that it was impossible to find good advice here. But if you resort to making a big decision while looking entirely at one perspective, then maybe you need to reconsider
your options.

>Why do you think your opinion is worth anything while simultaneously arguing that it isn't and you shouldn't be listened to?

So if YOU don't like it, leave, you shouldn't be there in the first place taking the job from someone who may be committed and actually enjoy it, if those around you don't like it and call you a pawn, fuck them, I'd rather be a pawn than the board, personally.

See this image, OP? It's the world's tiniest violin, playing the world's saddest song, just for you.

So you're angsting over being a "pawn". Congratulations, pointdexter, welcome to the Eighth Grade. So, what else are you going to do? Join a company and be a wage slave for Corporate America instead? It won't be any different after the socialist revolution, either, as you just replace CEOs with Party Secretaries and they're just as selfish and stupid.

Listen, dipshit, take another redpill - growing up is learning to accommodate the world's systems and developing the ingenuity and moral fibre nonetheless flourish within them. All you have done is proven that you;re still a retarded kid.

If you want to get out of the rat race, hike off and vanish into the wilderness forests of Alberta then you will have all the freedom you desire. Why would anyone sign up for a job where you are knee deep in shit cleaning sewers all day for minimum wage.

Its simple really, we all have preferences, If I like being outdoors, enjoy fitness, and have in interest in military things in general, then yes, why the fuck would I not join the military?

>Its simple really, we all have preferences, If I like being outdoors, enjoy fitness, and have in interest in military things in general, then yes, why the fuck would I not join the military?

yes he did

OP you did the right thing. I am in the same situation and I did it because the military doesn't pay enough for:
-the possibility to get shot at
-having to move every two years
-all the other bullshit they throw your way.

More money and more freedom as a civie with a decent degree. I joined to become an ATC not to get pushed into some dull and underpaid desk jockey job because I get hey fever once every four years.
