Best rifle under $400

Sks or a m48, dont fall for the nugget meme. I own all 3 and shoot the nugget the least because of its god awful recoil and poor production. I cant tell you how many times that thing jams. Ive literally had to hammer it open a dozen times (yes I've removed all cosmoline and polished)

I'm thinking about maybe a mosin or sks

I want to get an AR at some point, but not right now. I want to get a cheaper rifle because I'm getting a handgun sometime this year too (probably a glock 19). So that's why I want a cheaper rifle (also I think they're cool)

just save your money and dont get a cheap ass rifle u dipfuck. do u buy smoke fuckin pall malls and drink busch? do u eat pizza crusts for lunch? $800 bucks gets you an AR, AK, vepr 12, a nice ass shotgun, a decent revolver. $650 gets you a guide gun 45-70. $500 gets you a ak pistol. My first gun was a 400 dollar double barrel. Its not trash but if i wouldve saved a little more I would have a 45-70 that I would be way happier with. If i wouldve saved a little more i couldve gotten a saiga before the ban.

Surplus is almost exclusively steel cased chief. This problem isn't exclusive to Mosins by the way, mismatched surplus guns often have hard extraction.
