When I did basic- almost 6 years ago now- they made you buy brown underwear and use that. Everything else got locked up with your civilians.

Again, when I went through: no. No tobacco products of any kind. At my AIT, we were allowed to smoke. Given that you're gonna be 13F, I'd expect you'll be doing a lot of training in very large no smoking areas. AIT PSGs could ban it for their soldiers just on principle depending on how long the course is.

For packing, bring what you need to get through meps, first day or two at reception youll be issued or will be buying everything you need. Everything you bring with you will be locked up.
Bring your phone. They will take it from you, but theyll keep it locked up and let you use it on sundays to call home. (How often and long you call varies, I got 15-45 mins every week, some got it 2 times total just to tell them they made it to basic and that theyre graduating on schedule).
No tobacco in BCT. Depends on your AIT. Idk about 13F AIT at all. Im 35 series so omce I get to fold phase I can. Depends on your PSG's.

When I went through we hung out laundry bags at the end of the bunk. If you didn't do your laundry every other day you got your rack flipped and the shit smoked out of you on the killzone. So basically after you were done putting your shit back together and doing laundry you got to buff the killzone again. A few pairs is all you need.
