This is an interesting article about how West Germany was preparing their infrastructure for Soviet invasion. If you don't know German, try Google Translate.

I always hated the wash rack after field exercises.
Leopard 1
Best NATO tank of its generation.

This ain't wash rack, but a prototype of an antitank canal bank.

The idea was to create an one way obstacle, that would stop Soviet tanks from crossing the river, but allow the German tanks to cross it in order to counterattack Red Army.
On the images you can Leopard 1 unable to climb up, because it is sliding back to the water.

West Germany is full of obstacles like this falling block, designed to stall the Soviet advance as much as possible.

Did anyone looking at this picture think the tube was an small cruise missile/ICBM launcher or something?

It was a joke man.
If you ever trained on tracked vehicles you would understand.

Guys... guys!!!
What .
What if
What if we use tactical nukes as remote IEDs in case of a russian attack..
Just imagine.
>bury some "weak ass" tac nuke like 50m deep
> the motherlands borders start shifting into yours
>wait for some poor tonks to pass ... middle of convoy detonate..
>literally smoke their batallion and scare the everloving shit out of other batalions
If they accuse u of using nuclear weapons just blame ISIS and say it mustve been a dud triggered by pressure

They designed nuclear landmines.
What's more insane is that the cold winters rendered them inert, so they decided to bury them with a caged chicken and chicken feed, hoping the body heat of the chicken would keep it operating.
>>31217841
> they decided to bury them with a caged chicken
These men were trusted with nuclear weapons

Musta been by the department that stares at goats and makes their hearts explode

>This proposal was sufficiently outlandish that it was taken as an April Fool's Day joke when the Blue Peacock file was declassified on 1 April 2004. Tom O'Leary, head of education and interpretation at the National Archives, replied to the media that, "It does seem like an April Fool but it most certainly is not. The Civil Service does not do jokes."
That British stoicism tho
