Hi /k/, I just finished building my first SBR. It's chambered in 300 blackout. I've been having a weird issue... the rifle runs fine, but the brass it spits out has a dented case neck.

What do you think the issue is?

>Aero Precision stripped lower
>Aero Upper
>Aero Nickel Boron BCG
>10.5" Brownells Melonite Barrel, 1/8 twist, pistol gas
>Midwest Industries Low Profile Gas Block
>JP Enterprises Silent Captured Spring (with heaviest spring installed)
>Aero 15" keymod handguard
>Spikes enhanced LPK
>Fagpul grip and stock

oh also here's what the brass looks like

You fell for the .300 blackout meme.
>>
>>31208848
I'm loving it so far. Packs more of a punch than 556 out of this barrel length, and I can shoot it without hearing protection.

The only thing memey about it is the the price per round
>>
>OP has more money than sense
>gets all The Best® components from all The Best® brands to build a rifle
>overgasses it to the point that brass ejects at mach 2, negating any benefit he gained from using a suppressor
>also chooses to chamber this magnum opus of his in a round that mimics the performance of AK 47s for over double the cost

suppressors increase backpressure. taking it off might solve your "dented case" problem, but you're still an idiot
>>
>>31208984
I build the whole rifle for about $1000, you fucking idiot. People spend far, far more than that for much less. In fact, if you owned any guns, you'd know that these parts aren't really cream of the crop.

>ballistics of an ak47
Wowza. It's an SBR, it's not meant for ideal terminal ballistics.

Wew. Idk why I even come to this board anymore. Toxic.

>>31209084
Wow this faggot is mad that his meme rifle is a shit.

Shoulda bought a m&p sport

What O'clock are your brass ejecting at?

Maybe buy an SLR gas block or micro govnah to tune gas?

Bruh we already told you to just scrap that shit and get a real gun that fires an actual cartridge. Fuck off
>>
>>31209186
At first it was throwing em forward, and cases were drastically more dented in than the first pic. Then I put in a heavier spring, and now they go between 3 and 5 o'clock.

It doesn't really feel all that overgassed to me, which is why this is weird. Maybe bad ejector?

this is the best advice as it would actually sove op's issue
my 308ar would pull brass like that and even leave scratches from them hitting the lugs on the barrel extansion. adjustable gas block or bust
>wanting to build an 8'' pistol to spite CA and the ATF
>>
>>31209214

Google AR ejection pattern. I'm too lazy to post the diagram. If brass is going forward, it is over gassed. 3 and 5 is fine. 3-4:30 is ideal.

Your brass is getting dented by the shell deflector I suspect because they are flying with too much velocity.

Tinkering with the buffer and spring is one solution, but an adjustable gas block or govnah are the best because you are actually attacking the main problem, which is gas port.

If you don't want to do that, at least buy the tungsten weights for the JP SCS. Still recommend gas block though.
>>
Just like this guy said.>>31209449

Turn the gas down, Hitler. Way down.

I the gas block even adjustable?

There is a super simple fix for this
Also before you start listening to "people" on a Vietnamese image processing board realize that they

1) Probably don't have .300blk
2) Don't own suppressors
3) Don't have guns

>Purchase velcro tape
>Cut velcro tape the same shape as your shell defector
>attach the fuzzy side of the velcro to the shell defector

Fucking fixed. Its magic.

You can get an adjustable gas block if you want, but your brass is barely dented.

You never say, if this is supersonic ammo or not, but I am assuming it is.
>>
>>31209569

His deflector looks scuffed up. Don't know if it's from normal wear or from shells.

Adjustable gasblock should be standard on ARs going forward.

I agree on the adjustable gas blocks. They are nice, and I have them on my 3 AR's

The real reason you see this issue is because 300blk is a shortened case, the edge of the brass, tends to hit right on the rim.

If you inspect .223 brass, it often has a small dent in the same place where the case mouth of .300 usually starts. So it is usually more pronounced on .300 because it is hitting right on the case mouth, instead of right below the neck.

Still not a major issue and the brass in the picture is barely dented and would reload just fine multiple times.

Thank you based anon, I'll get some Velcro tomorrow

I'm thinking that this issue is due to the shorter case length, so it is hitting the deflector directly on the case mouth instead of where it is supposed to.

I don't think it is overgassed. I have dicked around with overgassed ar's in the past. Then again what do I know, 300 blackout is a different beast, sorta.
