It's mostly the quality of the materials, as well as the consistency in manufacturing that makes it so reliably blow up in your hand on time, every time.

learn what the term "tolerances" means IN MANUFACTURING first douche. what you meant to say is lot's of clearance. the tolerances on the parts as they are being manufactured are tight as fuck.

that#S where you are wrong. the glock manual of arms is the only manual of arms that should exist. but you are too dumbfag to intellectually even begin to grasp what I'm saying. the Glock slide lock was supposed to be internal only making it even more slick and simple. yet, because of market demands and because it would ahve been a too radical departure from the commonly accepted way apistol should look it was made the way you see it today to appease FUDDS like you.

It's more convenient, but has more recoil.

Handguns are when your long gun fails. Why carry a heavier handgun when it's just a backup?

>more recoil!!!!

Yes because 9mm has so much recoil. I don't know how ANYBODY shoots these plastic fantastics you might as well be shooting a S&W 500
>>
>>31202670
>>31202675
>I don't know what a slide lock is
>>
Glocks are "reliable" thanks to very good metal quality, a tough anti-corrosion finish and most of all simplicity. It's a Browning action like most recoil opped pistols, which is known and proven. Only real problem is limpwrist jams.

Does it have a monopoly on going bang most of the time? No. Plenty of other guns do that. Ruger P-Series are made of much cheaper castings and hold up to retarded handloads all day. That's proof enough that there are multiple viable ways to make an inexpensive yet balls-reliable wonder-nine.

So why the Glock meme? Well, it's basically the gun that proved to hundreds of American police agencies (through a very forceful marketing campaign) that yes, automatic pistols can be reliable and they can have a plastic frame and wouldn't it be nice if you could carry a gun that weighs less than your 686 but shoots 3x the bullets before going click. Plus it was cheap (to cops anyway), Glocks are still ~$300 on blue label program.
From that point forward they kind of just became the accepted standard for wonder-nines. Yes some others were popular at the time and many continue to come and go, but when in doubt most people start with a Glock. And really, it's not such a bad thing.
>>
>>31202776

>Handguns are when your long gun fails.
No.

>Why carry a heavier handgun when it's just a backup?
For the reason I just said.

>Yes because 9mm has so much recoil. I don't know how ANYBODY shoots these plastic fantastics you might as well be shooting a S&W 500

I have a gen3 19 and a gen4 26.

The gen4 finish is thinner, more gray in color, and matte, with no gloss. I get a much better grip on the slide serrations with the gen4 finish.

The gen3 is about 7 years old, and after a year or so of off and on use in a serpa2 holster, it developed a small wear spot just in front of the ejector. (pic related)

I have been carrying this gen4 26 in a kydex/leather IWB holster near every day for 6 months and haven't seen any wear at all, except a bit on the slide release lever.

Over the years the finish on my slide lever on the 19 is about 60% gone. It looks stonewashed now.
>>
>>31201965

Because it's the only gun in the last 100 years that was designed by an engineer.

John Browning, William Ruger, Eugene Stoner, all of these people were just self-taught and not actually trained to do anything properly.

L. James Sullivan had 2 years of engineering in college and he basically designed the Ultimax and Stoner 63, which shows you how a little engineering knowledge actually pays off.

Kalashnikov was a pleb but he had pro engineers refine his design.

Gaston Glock knew what he was doing for 40 years before he made a gun. Would you drive a car designed by a high school dropout? Then why would you carry a gun designed by one?
>>
>plastic only touches plastic
>metal only touches metal
>slide rails are stamped steel which scrape out the cuts in the slide every time it fires basically being self cleaning
>people around the world who actually get into gunfights choose them

BECAUSE YOU CAN JERK IT OFF
>>
>>31205344

Early Gen 4s when they were switching to the new finish had rust issues because the slide treatment is not done at Glocks factory its done by someone they contract to, and they fucked up a step on a pretty good run of guns that can rust. If your Glock is made after 2011 don't worry about it.

Also the finish was changed because it reflects less light and is more 'tactical' not because of 'muh EPA' or 'muh chemicals'
>>
>>31205344
>just wear marks

Also most 'wear marks' or 'look the finish is coming off!' is actually the thing you rub on the slide getting scratched, not the slide itself. Like if you rub the rivets in your jeans against the slide, people freak out thinking the finish is dying...it's the glock slide fucking your rivets not the other way around. People are retarded, the outside of a glock slide is almost as fucking hard as a diamond.
>>
>>31205344
None whatsoever on either gun. I live in Utah, so we might hid 70% humidity a month a year, at most.

>>31205479
This.

I actually had quite a bit of fear over the finish on my g19 slide wearing off, but it was just lead fouling building up on the ouside, especially around the muzzle. As soon as I got a proper solvent it came off.

My wear mark on my 19 is actually shiney if you look up close, and it's on the top of the textured surface, so it does look like legit wear.

much of the "holster wear" on Glocks is actually plastic rubbing off and being deposited on the gun. this amay be especially true for gen4 guns as they have a rougher, more calkboard like, finish then gen 3s.
>>
>>31205245
All you're proving with that post is that non engineers actually come up with operating mechanisms and the engineers that follow just refine them.
