I like CS:GO because, even though it attracts CAWDOODTYfags, it requires some skill to play and be good at. So at some point you make your way out of Ranking Hell and end up with people who are pretty cool.

If you want to play proper military games, you're going to have to deal with realism-autism. It might be tiresome at times, frustrating when things go wrong, but when you finally finish a mission through all that autistic detail and you finish it well, it's some of the most satisfying gaming you'll ever have.

oh boy. first of, the BR system. While its not a bad idea in and of itself, its just not executed properly, and its , according to the devs balanced with """"player statistics"""" which is complete fucking bullshit looking at certain things (like the later beaufighters being ranked over the mosquito, and next to the spitfire, or the StuG III being rater over the Pz IV F2, despite both using the same gun, and the StuG lacking a turret, 1945 planes vs 1942 and so on)

As mentioned, many damage models are fucked beyond belief. Front of the tiger turret for instance, or many Russian late game heavies. Speaking of heavy tanks, armor makes absolutely fucking nothing when everyone can load super-high pen APCR/HEAT rounds, and absolutely spam them (bonus points for lobbing them at tiers IIs)

not anyone in the dev team can acknowledge a mistake for instance, it was proven by the community that a specific Variant of the Stuka had dive brakes (Ju-87 D-5), and the devs kept declining, and told people to get credited sources, and general bullshitting, and the suddenly implements them, and refers to a wikipedia-tier source. this took them more than 2 years. Many tanks (funnily enough many german again) lack engine power, 265 vs 300 in the late Pz IV for instance.

and the entire game meta just favors mobility over armor, as most maps are open.

that brings us neatly to the issue of lowering the graphics to remove all concealment, effectively playing in easy mode, and then...

I play alot of Men of War Assault Squad 2.
God that game is fun.

Mang the BF1 is so infuriating but so fun. The change in game mechanics reminds me of coming to BF3 from CoD, definitely gonna get it on release.

Shame about bolt actions not being all kit, but the way they handle is so boner inducing it makes picking recon feel special. Running a Mauser naked, sniping guys by aiming off their scope glint from 500+ m is incredibly satisfying.

2033 is fucking great but Last Light ruined everything.
2033 is the rare instance where an FPS has a good story with likable characters and of course LL had to ruin all of it, along with adding in dumb modern shooter shit. LL isn't bad but it's just not nearly as special or memorable as 2033.
Also 2033 Redux is shit, they cut out key dialogue that developed vital characters for literally no reason

As said the story gets stale and generic, characters from the first game lose their personality, new characters are just plot points and not characters at all really.
Gameplay makes it more like every other shooter, it lacks the charm 2033 had.
