What grips do you guys use?
I just got these guys, the extra heavy one.

Ideally the ones on my gun.

Don't be a fucking pussy, just lift and your hands will get stronger

And honestly, you shouldn't even need to train your grip, average male grip strength is enough for shooting
>>
>>31193479
Join wrestling. Your hand will become strong as s gods. Lift if your out of school. Those hand workout things are s gimmick. So manly shit. Split wood. Your hands are that of a prepubescent child because you have never done anything hard in life. Quit being a beta male.

Good call on extra heavy.

My hands were extremely weak before I started shooting, got myself a few these things with progressing stiffness - maxed out on the heaviest one within a month.

arent these the same things guitar players use?

Ron Avery and Bob Vogel have good information on grips, Avery has a more detailed youtube video on it.

>Don't be a fucking pussy, just lift and your hands will get stronger

Because bench pressing is fucking going to help your fingers and grip strength right? Please.

>And honestly, you shouldn't even need to train your grip, average male grip strength is enough for shooting

And honestly, you shouldn't even need to train your upper or lower body right? Fuck off with your stupid defeatist "it duzn't matter" attitude. Let me guess, you're one of those dudebros from /fit/ that lift for "aesthetics" right?

Good luck bench pressing your way out of a housefire you protein shake drinking anal bleaching polesmoker. Have fun being mediocre in all aspects of your life.
>>
>>31193479
Keep in mind that most of these products are intended for rehab after you break your arm, as wrist exercisers. If you want to target your whole hand, then you need one like pictured in the OP with the individual finger parts.

I'm thinking about trying, due to a car wreck lifting isn't an option.

Just shoot the gun. Use proper technique. You don't need popeye arms to handle a damn service caliber from 9mm-10mm.

I use an old brass tension spring kind. It actually helps a lot combined with free weight lifting. There are some really strong ones I'm looking at. I train my grip for more reasons than holding a pistol like when I have to do pushups on my fingers. It's really easy to use these casually.

Yes. They're just repurposed. The makers realized they could market these to mall ninjas who would pay stupid prices for a stupid product.

You wanna get your hand stronger for playing guitar or shooting? The best thing to do is play guitar or go shoot. These are garbage.

Would you do shoulder press and bicep curls on a leg day? (Excluding the times when you just want to mix it up, I mean if you are targeting your legs, would you do shoulder presses). Would you do calf raises on chest and back day?

The OP wants to improve his ability to squeeze on a tube. You don't train for that by targeting the lower back and legs. Sure, your wrist and hand muscles are utilized while holding barbells and dumbells, but not to the extent of specifically training your ability to squeeze the bar as tight as you can, but mainly to hold it rather, which is not exactly the same.

You guys are not creating a high quality discussion in this thread. I hope you figure that out at some point.
>>
>>31194976
there's more than one kind of grip. You can be great at parabolic lifts and a crushing grasp but have zero pinching strength and no isometric endurance. It pays to be well rounded.
>>
>>31194964
>>31194964
There's nothing wrong with wanting to improve. Some gimmick device is still stupid though. If you want to improve at something then practice doing it instead of buying one more thing to make yourself better.

Stay butthurt fag

>Some gimmick device is still stupid though. If you want to improve at something then practice doing it instead of buying one more thing to make yourself better.

All strength-training equipment falls into this conceptual category. I don't do decline bench presses because I want to get better at the specific activity of decline bench press. I do that because I want my muscles to be stronger and more efficient for a range of any other kinds of activities - for example, lifting myself up and out of a swimming pool uses these muscles....

I'm not going to practice raising and lowering myself in and out of a swimming pool by doing reps at the public water park, though! Not only because I'd probably get the cops called on me, but also because there is a theory behind weight training that when you add more weight to the movement than you would normally need, you can strengthen your muscles, making them more efficient and stronger once healed than would otherwise be achievable from simple repetition of the desired target activity.

tl;dr, you're a pleb and need to fuck off out of the thread

These kids just know how to meme. They don't think, just repeat what others have said before.

I have the same style unit, but, the red one. Whatever weight that is. There is some great research into grip strength and shooting.

All the USPSA grand masters are doing grip exercises.
>>
I've been using this the past year during long drives because I get very restless and its a good release. My forearms have gotten pretty well toned in that time. Thinking I'll buy a set of CaptainsOfCrush just to step it up, because the max setting is like nothing now.
Never really thought about it since it was never a problem but my handgun grip is pretty damn solid now.

My grip is pretty strong but my wrists are limp as a liberal's. Any tips on how to train those?
>>
>>31201373
You can't. That's 100% genetic. Like height, vertical jump, calves and forearms. Sorry bro. Look into wrist wraps as described here [1] to mitigate your physical disabilities.

Hickock 45 is an old man. He has to put time and effort into MAINTAINING grip strength, not building it.
>>
>>31193664
My hands are eternally soft and womanlike regardless of what I do to them, eight years of mixed martial arts and another three of varsity wrestling gave me teensy little calluses that were still baby soft and disappeared rapidly after high school.

Either the water in my area is estrogenized as fuck or I was meant to be a combat trap.

To be honest, your grip should never be heavy. The more you muscle a gun around, the less accurate your shot is and the quicker you become fatigued.

i dont know about you but my forearm and grip strength increased considerably when doing deadlifts and barbell rows. unless you're lifting light i dont know why that wouldn't carry over to your shooting ability...
